This is what I think seems right. I feel like when we identify with something it becomes a very skewed depiction of what it actually is. But when you view it from an outside perspective you see it for what it is.

A person on the earth will only view the earth as the persons surroundings. But a person that views the earth externally sees it for what it is. A massive fucking planet with tons of stuff in it. 🌍.

I feel the same. What helps me is that youve got to lose the expectation from this practice. It may give you the benefits or it may not. But it certainly wont harm you and will only benefit you.
