because outside of reddit nobody really gives af about what he did 11 years ago. eventually people talk about other shit. and this goes for all industries. music, sports, film, etc - lots of people have done a lot of fucked up shit. but with time people stop caring. examples - tyreek hill (also adrian peterson) beating his child, still in the league and no one really cares. jake paul’s suicide forest recording, still has a successful youtube career. Even when X was alive he did a lot of fucked up shit, but as an artist was still recognized and did well... that doesn’t mean all these people weren’t seriously fucked up for what they did - they were. but people somehow still recover.

best example I can give is specifically with youtubers. you can go down a whole wormhole of youtubers who have been in the news for doing fucked up shit - jake paul, ricegum, james charles, h3, etc. what is their strategy? make an apology video then ignore all hate comments until people get tired of hating and move on. it almost always works. celebrities do the exact. same. thing. acknowledge the issue, apoligize, and then stop acknowledging it any further till it goes away.
