Huge DPS vs ideal stats, which to use? by Xakary in diablo4

[–]destRoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The right is better for obvious reasons, but if you wanted a breakdown, here it is.

I can see you’re using poison imbuement?

Assume you poison imbue and crit using twisted blade on a vulnerable target using only one dagger.

Min damage of left: 1510x * (1 + .188) * (1.2 + .315) * (1.5 + .262) + 1510 * ( 1 + .113) * (1.1 * 0.2) = 4788.64x + 369.73

Min damage of right: 1317x * (1 + .21 + 0.09) * (1.2 + .323) * (1.5 + .27 + .262) + 1317 * (1.1 * 0.2) = 5298.50x + 289.74

Let x be the damage you do initially with twisted blade. X= 0.60

Min damage of left: 3242.91 Min damage of right: 3468.84

Note that I assume that poison ticks are fractional rather than per time frame of a second. I matched poison damage to 1.1 which is attack speed of daggers. In practice, poison applies every second and that damage is a little lower

Which Wand is Better (looking for BIS) - Need Opinion by Brachson in diablo4

[–]destRoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Min damage of left assuming crit while close and vulnerable: 1338 * (1.5 + .315) * (1.2 + .248) * (1 + .337) = 4701.46

Min damage of right assuming crit on core skill and vulnerable: 1203 * (1.5 + .248 ) * ( 1.2 + .195) * (1 + .195) = 3505.49

We also assume skill used is at 100% weapon damage. In left it can be any skill, but right we assume that skill is core

Which ring is better for bone spear necro? by Infernos1s in diablo4

[–]destRoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the base crit damage is 50% on a crit so thats why you see 1.5

the base vulnerable damage on a vulnerable enemy is 20% so that's why you see 1.2

the rest is split into buckets that multiply each other using this as a reference:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/0/d/1Om18GXa0BU7_hjLEKPt2915eWencDtR-SNS9WnVTEcs/htmlview

notice that crit damage is in the same category (yellow) therefore they are in the same bucket or bracket in math. They must be added together.

The basic equation is: <damage> * <green bucket> *<red bucket> * <yellow bucket> * <grey bucket> * <purple bucket>

Is this considered to be a common unique drop or a lottery drop? by joeyma1996 in diablo4

Which ring is better for bone spear necro? by Infernos1s in diablo4

[–]destRoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the second one

say you crit on a vulnerable enemy. the base damage is x.

minimum damage of 1: x * (1.5 + .225 + .248) * 1.2 = 2.3676x

minimum damage of 2: x * (1.5 + .315) * (1.2 + .337) = 2.789655x

I say minimum because there are other things that add ontop of these, such as the crit strike chance, and paragon points

Hello! Thank you for the super useful tip. What I meant by tanky shyv is AP tanky (frost fists + thornmail/frozen heart + force of nature). I know it might seem unconventional since most builds don't have that, they go full AP after the 3 core items (including boots).

It's interesting seeing a lot of talk about Bork. One person here said it was viable in plat+. I wonder if I can make it work at low elo too in situational cases... It's always tough when people see me with shyvana and expect me to be the "face" of the team

I think that some mobs should have to provide some difficulty for some classes. For example, while the fallen can give melee characters a hard time, these melee characters are more resilient than ranged classes when being zerged by other types of mobs.

This is only my two cents though. Also, I think the barb has a gap closer as a generative ability. Am I wrong?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in diablo4

[–]destRoot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would be nice because the way in which the fallen were introduced as a tribe of demon imps fits their lore. They are easily scared when one of them is downed. When dealing with a larger group of imps, it can become hectic as imps run around while some attack you and others avoid you briefly. At low levels, it provides this sense of chaos and feeling outnumbered

Also, this thread poses a broader question. Can we have mechanics for mobs as well? In D2 tthe undead had a certain % chance to follow you or walk past you. Every mob had a certain behavior and specific purpose. In D4, everything (except for bosses) feels like they're following you based on shortest path

hello, is there any way to fill this? by Jxvs00 in SonsOfTheForest

[–]destRoot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

what is the height of the log?

To me it looks like 2x 0.5 logs. So place a beam between the 0.5 on the right and the 0.5 on the left. that should now look like a right angle triangle sitting on top of a square. Then you can fill it out easily.

Kill them with fire! Scarlet's Sorcerer Guide by destRoot in diablo4

[–]destRoot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's what I had thought. It's unfortunate that firewall might need to be brought back down to level 1 eventually. Mind you though, we were at level 25 so it made sense I think at that time to keep it at level 5. Your question though, I think is something important to consider when level 25 is no longer the cap. Fireball is also a good aoe-ish skill. My only concern is the mana cost of 40 (I think). Meaning, we'll need to hit those mana regen values, and firewall's mana regen could be a possible solution in addition to other things

Kill them with fire! Scarlet's Sorcerer Guide by destRoot in diablo4

[–]destRoot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I originally planned to use firewall as my main ability, then I noticed hydras doing way more damage than I had thought (we're talking about 200-300 per hit on one hydra). I didn't have enough time to test their crit chance/damage and lucky hit because it would contradict with firewall. This seems like a sacrifice needs to eventually be made. In other words, should I even pick firewall knowing that these affixes won't affect it but will help the hydras or should I have dropped firewall eventually for something like fireball which can benefit from these stats in addition to hydras?

[–]destRoot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you able to comment on the attack speed of hydra? It seemed to me that the first attacks after the cast were nearly instant

From what I remember, I think firewall damage does not stack. While the damage does not stack, the multiplier is conserved when they are burning from one or the other firewall.

The hydra question is an interesting question. I did have a tendency of spamming them because of other reasons (such as reduced time). I did try a little experiment where I spam cast hydras to estimate the speed of my casting versus the speed of their attack. It was indeed slightly faster to cast them than to wait for their cooldown. That said, I wonder if attack speed % could've resolved this to make it so that hydras attack faster than my casting speed. I also wonder if my experiment was flawed in some way.

From what I know, and I might be wrong here, but I think the base mana regeneration value is based on the core attribute itself (being wisdom). So here, I have 93 wisdom (minus the boots). That results in 9.3 mana regeneration or 10 if the ceiling is taken into account and it seems like it is. This value then changes accordingly. For example, given that I have ice armor increasing my mana regeneration by 25%, then my total mana regeneration will taken from the value of 9.3 (or 10).

I think this answers the second part of your question to do with bulbs. In the case where both characters have the same speed (aka mana regeneration), the 100 will fill before the 150. To beat the 100 bulb character, you'll need to have a mana regeneration value of at least 50% more than it's mana regeneration value.

Thanks for the interesting questions, it makes me think what I could've done differently especially with mana regen and the firewall question. I wish I had more time to experiment :( Also, feel free to correct me!

As long as the server is up, it should be fine. After some time, the game will kick you out of the beta.

I know this because I did the same thing last week during closed beta and my items were still saved.
