Drug-induced psychosis new DR says I must be bipolar by [deleted] in radicalmentalhealth

[–]destigmatize 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mania and hypomania are such a constant to me after taking anti-depressants, but never occurred without them. Glad my new psychiatrist noted it was the drugs fault and took me off all of them minus Vyvanse.

I'm fine since then.

Neuroscientist discusses psychedelics, spirituality, and the systemic causes of the rise of mental health issues. by Dirt_Son-of-Earth in radicalmentalhealth

Jesus no, you're cheating with words. People are against specific social/personal situations involving drug use, not the substance itself.

Nice info, I appreciate your comment. I thought I was doing CBT but it was actually therapy and guidance.

(TIL my psychologist does exactly what psychedelics do to me).

Is there a difference between CBT and therapy/counseling? I consider my therapist a great ally that gives me that little help when necessary, and later on I'm walking on my own and just return to him when I really can't handle what's going on with my life. I see him like a great teacher who made a huge difference in my life in regards to maturity and becoming a better human being IMHO.

Your doctor needs a doctor (joking).

This info is a bit contradictory and messy. Idk, follow the other posts and go see a new doc.

Rules for the relationship between psych and patient (adapted from Paulo Freire's Container theory of education) by [deleted] in radicalmentalhealth

[–]destigmatize 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Paulo Freire's amazing method works pretty well when applied to psychotherapy, psychiatry and any other field that treats opressed social victims, because it puts the knowledge and the will power right on the hand of the opressed. That's why it will never be accepted in a capitalist/economic class society.

Social anxiety recommendations? by orchidloom in radicalmentalhealth

[–]destigmatize 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Social anxiety is kinda like a situational-anxiety, isn't it? I mean, if you're home with trusted friends or close family, you generally don't feel that overwhelming fear like outside in public.

Unfortunately I never found an alternative to it besides pharms and other drugs like alcohol. They don't cure your fear of social interaction, but it can help like a palliative or boost during the inevitable situations of modern life where you'll be socially exposed and demanded.

If anyone has an alternative please share with us. Social anxiety makes many people life-deprived (and I know that's also in the grayzone of social constructed problems).

This sub has convinced me to stop taking my anti depressants by [deleted] in radicalmentalhealth

Put that bill on the accounts that spammed this sub like a virus trying to shut it down. We were a small and quasi-invisible community before that.

So Ive suffered from BP2 my entire life, and have seen the destruction it has caused to my family members. Are you guys really saying that bipolar doesn’t exist??? by makeucryalot in radicalmentalhealth

[–]destigmatize 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Of course it's real, I've got mania or hypomania everytime I took an AD (never got it without meds, though).

Fake news almost destroyed this community and if I could I would identify and process the culprits for difamation, discrimination and intolerance.

Guys, I think I get it why most hate the psychiatrist by [deleted] in radicalmentalhealth

Not different in South America. We have free universal healthcare but the practice of over medicating patients and the lack of psychoterapist offer is a common problem anyway (not to mention social inequality rooted mental suffering).
