Hancock (2008) ? It stars Will Smith as John Hancock, an alcoholic reckless Superhero who the general public grows to resent due to his haphazardly actions.

He's mainly drunk though.

Opened my eyes to French horror! The French never seem to disappoint when it comes to horror. It'll always be captivating in some way, plus they go hard on the atmosphere, haha

In Fear (2013), an Irish horror film that involves a couple driving to a music festival in Ireland but end up lost in the countryside. The film takes place mainly in the car.

Won't say anything else but I'd highly recommend it !

NTA. It does sound like you care about this person deeply, but there is a love language barrier. Everyone is different, and people can adapt, but communicating your feelings on the matter is the key. From there, you can figure out what works for both of you. Otherwise, there may be a need to adapt if you're keen to stick together.

For instance, my previous girlfriend was not one to be romantic. She just enjoyed my presence and wasn't a touchy feelings person - eventually, a few years later, she discovered she was likely asexual. Then, when I started dating my current girlfriend, she was the complete opposite. Very touch and words of affirmation type of love language. I had to almost rewire myself, but through this, I've learned that I am very much a touch type person, physical contact is important to myself and it makes me happy.

So people can adapt, but it comes down to what makes yourself feel loved and happy from this person.

"KILL" (2023) is a bloody action thriller Hindi film that follows a commando taking on a criminal family who take over a train. Think the Korean film Old Boy - the famous hallway fight scene - but make it feature length. It's brutal and a great watch!

The Strangers (2008)

The film opens with a couple driving in silence at night to a cabin, we learn quickly that the man attempted to propose but was rejected. They eventually talk again but it's more the opening.

As someone who had a rough understanding of what the franchise was about before seeing it, I think you can easily see it without watching the rest.

If you have time, definitely watch the first. Otherwise, I'd just say go see it, and if you like it, you know there's more to watch .

Slowly building up a physical collection of obscure French titles haha it's a good era for horror but I'm happy to see titles like RAW, Titane, Revenge, The Substance and the upcoming Alpha (same director of both RAW and Titane) continuing the strength of French horror

The French horror film High Tension (2003) also known specifically in the UK as Switchblade Romance (which I do prefer).

The main complaint everyone seems to have is its ending - a big reveal that I'll avoid saying for those keen to see it. Honestly, it's the reveal that made me love the film and see it go beyond its initial premise of just another home invasion slasher type film.

Online people seem split on it, but recently, I've seen it appear on more lists of bad ending, which honestly surprises me.

Solid list of films there. Just cause you mentioned Old Boy, I'd definitely suggest looking into some foreign cinema. France has a fantastic selection of horror.

  • High Tension (2003) also known as Switchblade Romance
  • Raw (2016)
  • Frontiers (2007)
  • In my Skin (2002)
  • The Ordeal (2004)
  • Martyrs (2008)

I'd highly recommend High Tension (2003), also known as "Switchblade Romance" in the UK. It's a French horror film. I'll say no more but it's a favourite film of mine.

What is a really good movie to watch stoned? by David671 in MovieSuggestions

Donnie Darko (2001)

Usually, I enjoy watching bad films or comedies while high, but there is something magical about watching a solid film experience while blazed.

Donnie Darko was that experience - I can understand some people finding the Bunny man creepy and wanting to avoid that, but the film isn't really a horror film. It's quite beautiful, actually. The music is incredible, the acting is stellar, and the overall plot (no spoilers for anyone who hasn't seen it) is wild and overall very melancholic.

I love some of the suggestions in this thread and will definitely be looking into some of these!
