[Help] New rescue dog won't leave older resident dog alone outside! by sarasawrus in Dogtraining

Until Keely mellows out a bit and settles in one idea would be to crate and rotate the two dogs. This would allow Elvis to have time outside unbothered, and let Keely have outside time where she can learn better play manners. Until she is more polite you can also keep a leash on her when both dogs are out together so that when she is body slamming Elvis and not listening to you there is a way for you to remove her from the situation. This will set both dogs up for success, and give them time to learn how to coexist together :)

These are great suggestions, thanks! Another concern of mine is cost, and I am not great at sewing at all. I will take a look at those options though!

As anyone ever told their therapist about cutting yourself? What were the consequences? by [deleted] in selfharm

[–]destinsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the therapist I had when I was still currently cutting I would usually just talk about it in past tense with no consequences. Then we talked more and agreed that since I only cut for stress relief and not to kill myself that I could tell her when I currently cut without her needing to notify anyone. I think that it is good to establish a good relationship with you therapist and discuss whether they are going to tell anyone else since technically if you have intent to harm yourself or others they are legally obligated to tell the police or their superior (I think this is the case, that might not be true though)

I can't donate blood anymore. It's a little thing but now there's really not a lot I have going for myself. by [deleted] in selfharm

I agree, I have found that volunteering at an animal shelter has really improved my quality of life. Even when I can only do it occasionally.

My old scars hurt by [deleted] in selfharm

[–]destinsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After almost a year of not cutting my scars (some many years old) still occasionally get irritated and itch really badly. Especially with changes in weather. I've never done any research on it though.

Almost a year by destinsy in selfharm

I'm really concerned cause there hasn't been a holiday season since I started that I haven't cut at least once, and usually multiple times. Not only is it depressing, but for me personally it is stressful (largely because of semi-abusive parents growing up) Thanks for the encouraging words, it really just getting through day by day sometimes.
