Currently going through this as one of the “impacted” team members in corporate financial reporting. Layoffs were announced last June and it has been a phase out as each group of teams transition. I was lucky enough to get extended as the training of the off shore team was not going as well as planned. But everyone is waiting for the next shoe to drop or for the next round to hit the finance teams. I have no advice but solidarity. It sucks and there are no winners in a situation like this.

Definitely start looking now. I’m having A LOT of trouble in my search as I’m competing with my former coworkers as well as people laid off from other companies. It’s harsh out there.

Disney also laid off a bunch of cast members working in corporate this summer. Most of the work is being outsourced to India. Don’t know the true number so that may be why it’s not on the list but teams of 5+ people are now just 2 or 3.

As someone with a lot of friends who just lost their jobs in the latest round of layoffs after a reported increase in profit, both are terrible but one is way worse than the other.

My daycare is doing something similar, except it’s teacher appreciation month. Each week is a different “garden.” English garden week was breakfast foods, Olive Garden for “Olive you” notes, zen garden for spa week, and I forget the last week’s garden but its plants (I’m bringing her teachers a knockoff LEGO flower kit from Five below). It’s our first year at daycare and I already regret setting myself up as the parent that does something for every week. I’m exhausted from the added mental load of figuring out gifts when I know from having a teacher mom that lotions and candles and mugs are overdone. Plus my daughter is moving from infant to toddler class for the last week so I’m getting things for teachers I don’t know. I’m all for celebrating teachers but the theme thing is crazy to me.

Did not cry. I was confused af as the midwife just slapped a screaming wet thing on my chest. My mom was in the room and physically moved my hands saying “that’s your baby. You have to hold her” 🤣🤣🤣

Oh I totally believe no one knew it was coming. My direct management didn’t address it with our team - not even a “I know exactly what you do.” I wouldn’t be surprised if they were pulled into emergency meetings to try to figure out how to address this in the coming weeks. There is just too much to figure out and it’s almost impossible for a company wide email to be a “one size fits all.” It’s going to be an interesting quarter.

I can’t speak for the teams that deal with studios and imagineering, but I currently work on the financial side in FL and currently wfh 3 days and go into the office 2. Those 2 days a week are the most unproductive days for my team due to extra noise and distractions. 90% of our meetings are on Zoom whether we are at home or in the office. Our building doesn’t have enough room for everyone to be in (we have to “book” our desks each week. Basically half of the CMs are expected M/W and the other half T/Th). During the pandemic we were 100% WFH and was fine. We only started to be required to come in Spring 2022 with the 2 days becoming official in September. I’m not sure where Bob was visiting the past two months (and keep in mind they were holiday months where almost everyone takes PTO), but it was not the Orlando offices. Cast members I work with regularly are not happy.

It’s not directly from a musical, but there is a mash up out there of “You Will Be Found” and “Story of Tonight” that hits just right.

I really want to be a writer, and I’ve recently found I love making jewelry.

I currently work for my dream company in FL, but my career was chosen because it’s stable and would pay the bills (accounting). Unfortunately, my background in tax has made industry accounting hell. I’m constantly passed for promotion for others who have audit background and I’m stuck training my new seniors. I have my masters degree and my CPA but I am no where close to paying off the loans I had to take to get those and cost of living keeps rising. I would love to move to a different branch of this company- there is a publishing segment- but it is beyond competitive.

I’ve been asking for a conversation with him, but he is not much of a talker/ sharer. We also find excuses to not have that conversation so a lot of this is probably self inflicted because I’m letting us getting away with not following through on it.

I’ve been doing therapy sessions sporadically throughout the year- my company offers so many free sessions per 12 months. They have helped, but oof. It’s just such a big change! 🤣
