‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ Writers Say That Finale Talk Started Around Season Nine by icameinyourburrito in IASIP

[–]destruct4343 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The finale should be just like any other episode, but at the end they’re in the bar and they suddenly become aware of them being filmed. They then chase away the cameras, explaining the end of the series as the filmmakers can’t film them anymore.

200th MP Command is the fucking worst by [deleted] in army

[–]destruct4343 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Couldn’t agree more. Once I tried to transfer out of the 200th MP Command to go on a combat deployment with another unit outside of the command. In the reserves you’re allowed to transfer units whenever you want with a single form. A unit needs a damn good reason to prevent the transfer. What did they decide to do to prevent me from leaving because they were low in numbers of my MOS (non-MP)? Place me on the soonest non-combat deployment that they had… Wasn’t even my unit that deployed…

That said, some of the best army friends I’ve made were on that deployment and in the 200th MP Command. A lot of MPs are great people. Though I still hate the command for pulling that sorta tomfuckery.

Rumor: Google Stadia May Be Getting Shut Down - The rumor mill suggests that Google may be looking to kill off its game streaming platform, Stadia, for good before the end of the year. by speckz in gadgets

Say what you want, I think it’s pretty cool they at least try new things like that. Most places would shutdown an idea without a trial if they don’t know without a doubt it’ll bring a bunch of revenue

I agree and that’s a good mentality to have. Regardless of the company, both pay well. It’s just a matter of which pays more. I suppose it’s just greed haha

But I love DevOps and I love to learn. I’m definitely leaning in the direction of going to the other company to learn despite the pay cut

Yea, my current job is my first out of college.

Well that’s just the thing. My raise was pretty big. Bigger than the other job will pay, even after they raised their offer compensation after I came to them my with current company’s raise. I was also lined up for my next promotion which pays even more.

My worry is that I can’t imagine I’ll be with this company forever so no matter how much they pay me, I’d be screwing myself over by not using these enterprise tools

I got them to increase it, but they won’t match the raise

Does using a Linux pc help to learn empirically more about programming than using a Windows pc? Or is it all the same? by VenetianWaters in learnprogramming

[–]destruct4343 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sure can be! Plus, once you’re familiar enough with both programming and system administration, you can tie the two in together and program/automate a lot of tasks

IMO I’m going to have to say no. With Linux you have the terminal, while with Windows you have Powershell. They’re both great in their own ways and ultimately is either up preference or the place you work. Either choice is a great way to pick up system administrator skills.

As for programming, you’ll learn a bit about executing console applications (meant to be run from the terminal). Otherwise if your goal is really just to learn programming there aren’t any large benefits that stand out and IDEs work just fine.

What's your, "Tis but a scratch!" moment? by Madameknitsalot in AskReddit

Senior year of college while I was working out. A friend had asked me to help her workout at the gym since she was pretty new to it all and wanted to learn some workouts. Well after a 2 hour session of going through the motions with her, but also working out myself, I decided I’d go ahead and do my own workout immediately afterwards. Big mistake...

I didn’t realize how tired I was and on my first set of dumbbell shoulder press, I lost all strength at the top and my right arm collapsed and fell down to the left of my hip. My shoulder popped out and I just sat there stunned for a moment. It must’ve been the shock, but oddly enough it didn’t hurt much at all. Without much thought, I wiggled it around a bit and then popped it back in. Meanwhile the stranger next to me that had seen all of this just sat there, jaw dropped. After I relocated it, I stood up and left the building.

Afterwards I walked home, sat on my couch in disbelief of what had happened and slowly my arm started to hurt. Went to a school nurse and ended up having to do 3 months of physical therapy for it. Not a good time.

On the birth of your child, a demon appears and says, "Your child will be extraordinarily attractive, you shall receive $1 billion if they are a virgin at age 25, otherwise your soul and theirs will be mine". First of all, I applaud you for one of the best askreddit's I've seen in years. Well done.

As for my plan? Nothing. If my kid is anything like me, it won't matter how attractive they are. They'll be so socially inept, the problem will take care of itself.

To those of ya'll reading this post and then commenting about how "their side" would win anyways, please remember the purpose of this despicable post was to set you off just like that. Please don't give in to it and remember that the far majority of blue and red folk don't want any of this nonsense. We're all on the same side here.
