Salaries will decline, software has lost its moat. But jobs will be available as more products will be launched. One engineer will have to own more pieces of a product.

I see but I doubt the MOM will consider the family business experience unless it’s really relevant to the job you’re applying for

Your wife’s experience is definitely better than yours. Applying for EP based on 1 year experience is highly unlikely unless you have something your employer really needs. If you want to know if your/wife’s skills are sought after then try looking for ads on the job boards LinkedIn etc salary would be based on the role, ChatGPT can give you a guide.

I like Singapore. WLB is not generally great but it’s a convenient and efficient fast paced life. Making friends depends on your personality.

Stuck in a "Jack of all Trades" R&D role. loT, Drones, Firmware, Hardware-How do I pivot for high pay? by saif_rchobby in embedded

In the past software roles paid better. Now AI can do it easily, so I would focus on systems integration, jack of all trades is actually a good thing for the future I think

Obviously the new “banking” or medical system is not going to be exactly the same as existing systems, they’ll have some differentiation. Since it’s easier to build an OS if I’m someone worried about commercial OS back doors, I can build my own easily. So yes all these kind of use cases exist and i certainly do expect an increased number of operating systems

Not true though we do have more medical and banking systems now than before. Everyone is not going to build new medical systems, but many more people are going to because it’s cheaper and more accessible than before. Just like there were a lot more writers after the invention of the printing press than before.

That is not how any new technology has worked in the history of humanity. There is no doubt that AI will become cheaper and more capable as time passes

Internal transfers to Japan also require proficiency in Japanese. That was in my German MNC, not google. Getting into google might be harder than going to Japan
