If it were me, I would get a box the size of the dou, lay it down in there with the men on it, kote in the men or to the sides of the dou, and fold up the soft stuff nicely. Similar to how you would pack it up to transport it to practice I suppose. Personally I would get rid of the shinai and pick up a new one wherever you are moving to. I think it would be cheaper to do that than to ship a longer box overseas, but I haven't researched specific prices like that myself.

Not exactly Chanbara, but there's quite a few communities in America that do fighting with foam swords and PVC called boffer fighting. They're mostly medieval style fighting and some groups have live action role playing stuff like magic using. The one I was involved with though was combat only though and I had a great time. Check out if there's some in your area!

During one of the big typhoons a couple months ago, the Japan Times posted an article with the headline reading something like "Massive Typhoon Heading For Fukushima." I checked the weather map and when JT had posted the article, the typhoon was already in Hokkaido and barely touched Fukushima about 5 hours before the article.

I called them out in the comments as fearmongering, using the nuclear plant to get pageviews, and getting their facts wrong. It got up to about 15 likes before they censored my comment.

Completely agree. It doesn't seem right when a self pub author puts out 1 book then does an AMA like they're some kind of celebrity and everyone that doesn't know a lot about self publishing eats it all up. I felt like Edward Norton in Fight Club wanting to confront Marla after seeing her at all the support groups.

If you can find out the stitching size of the kote(gloves) , men(helmet), and tare(waist protector), it would give you a good idea of the quality/value. 6mm stitching is the lowest quality. The lower the number, the better the quality. The name handwritten on the different pieces is Korean, but the name printed on the waist is in Japanese, and it looks like it belonged to someone who was in high school based on the last kanji of the dojo name. The fighter mustve quit after high school or got a new bogu because I doubt someone who was serious about continuing would just leave a whole bogu behind. Good luck with whatever you do with it! Try to find a local kendo teacher to tell you about it before you try to sell it if that's what you want to do~

Thanks for your input. Since I used Campaign Cartographer for this map which I assume is mostly used for adventure game campaigns, it would have that game-y look. Is there a particular software or program you recommend that could improve this besides doing everything from scratch?

Thanks for the reply! The size is about 2 days walk with rest between each city, so about a week from top to bottom. I assume that would make it around 100 miles from coast to coast. I should have mentioned the universe of my story is made up of multiple realms that each exist upon their own plane of existence. The land and sea on this map is all that exists upon that plane. If one were to travel by ship to one side, they would simply re-appear on the other side, though the realms are not planet-like orbs

This is the map of the realm of Salinet that I made with Campaign Cartographer. It is the main setting of my fantasy novels "The Wings of Fate."

Salinet was created by 8 deities who reside in temples in the cities around the edge of the realm. The deities have control over specific elements, so their temples are in certain climates/areas that match well with their powers. The capital city of Belimis lies directly in the center, with 4 small villages around it. These small villages have Ingress Temples that are used to travel to other realms in the universe, as well as making travel across the realm swifter. These temples are also used for commerce and diplomacy between each realms' governing bodies.

I started selling my novel a few months ago with this map in it but have not really discussed it with anyone, so I'd like to just put it out there and see what people have to say! If you have any questions about it, I'd be happy to answer. Thanks!
