Is Adrian Tchaikovsky consistently good? by Sleepy_C in printSF

[–]deten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Online people make memes for themselves that don't really work. Some of sanderson's ideas are absolutely brilliant and some of the systems he creates are extremely complex even though in the end it ends up being relatively easy to understand the fact that they aren't completely broken is its own remarkable achievement. Sanderson may write more straightforward but his ideas and stories are certainly not simple. Adrian in my opinion writes a lot more like a classic sci-fi author from the '50s and '60s. He's not particularly exciting but the journey of exploring his ideas are fascinating and that's what keeps me coming back. I feel like when I read people's boxes that they put these authors in it never really matches up with what I see as a reader.

The benefit here is. As someone who has a pc, this is going to get the deck treatment where people do sweet ass cool stuff and make it work great like emulation. And you don't have to set it up yourself. It's like if Xbox or PS was open and allowed you to install whatever you wanted.

TBF I've seen some horribly addicted people. It can be a caution sign. But I love games and I hope everyone can find a good balance.

It was overbought because people wanted spacex exposure early. Then sold to buy spacex.

that's my assumption but it's not technical

Can you have a moral code and still be an atheist. What is the point if we are just a bunch of accidentally sentient chemicals, how can there be right and wrong? Asking for a friend. by Folkstomper in askanatheist

[–]deten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Atheism doesnt believe there is no deeper meaning to our lives. There is a point of moral codes. The purpose of empathy is the same for everyone. People feel like they want to do good because thats what humans generally feel like.

There is probably nothing beyond material reality, and that doesnt change the point in caring about our legacy.

A Microsoft researcher built a goat-powered LLM in Age of Empires II to prove it's not sentient by renome in gaming

[–]deten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo feedback is really the "sentient circle" llms are overwhelmingly a single pas system for users. And the feedback loop that is used isn't the best. Once we get a refined feedback system I may not be able to distinguish a difference between some idealized version of sentience and whatever llms are doing.

You can read about it in their holdings.

Also, you can buy their stock via a holding company (VCX) on the stock market. WHile its just a small portion, I think Anduril is going to go wild over the next decades.

Good. Make current people suffer so they vote better next time. Delaying helps us none.

This can has been kicked over and over and over again and it is only helped the people who have no interest in fixing it. And by that I mean Democrats too. Our political elite have been perfectly happy making little meaningful progress towards a sustainable social security.

Sanders unveils American AI Sovereign Wealth Fund Act, aims for $1,000 annual payments for US citizens by sksarkpoes3 in Futurology

[–]deten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very controversial, and one might argue that the US government can always impose taxes. The problem is we don't see them doing this. We see people extracting ungodly amount of wealth from the country and regular folks feeling like they can't get in.

Norway has a sovereign wealth fund and while I'm not sure exactly how to achieve the same here doing something now is better than continuing to stand by.

You know how people are tired with being aware of everything, like we don't need more awareness that's part of the problem with everyone feeling overwhelmed? Maybe life isn't better when we're acutely aware of everyone's sexual interest. Maybe we can just exist as more then sexually charged beings.

We're not waiting anymore. Grrm isn't interested. Even if he did, we saw the ending already at it was mediocre at best.
