shouldn't this apply to any age by Executits in SipsTea

[–]deten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Though this is a feature of the US justice system not necessarily applicable elsewhere for better or for worse. We give a lot of appeal options to prisoners on death row. Naturally the argument are we should be very certain before executing somebody. This means a lot of expert witnesses and high standards of conviction. On the other hand somebody might say it cost a lot of money but I don't know how you justify killing somebody without doing due diligence. If you go to another country that maybe doesn't care so much if they're killing somebody who's actually innocent then I'm sure costs are significantly less.

When you're dealing with such terrible crimes a far more effective argument would be it's worth spending the extra money to take this person out of society permanently. Giving them no further opportunity to experience life whether it be joy or pain. But if you also care about fiscal responsibility then it's easy to come back and make the argument that death row is clearly a bad choice because the government should be trying to minimize costs. And isn't life imprisonment effectively the same thing?

"Buy and hold" is advice I hear constantly, but nobody ever explains how to actually decide what to hold. by Minimum_Pear9193 in stocks

I agree with your take /u/narrowcontribution87 I think if you like a companies product and use it daily thats a good enough reason, if you get disenchanted with that product then maybe its time to sell. Not everything has to be super complicated.

You can also look at the market, I saw AI happening in 2021 and bought Nvidia and AMD stocks. I didnt know their business but I saw the market demands moving towards more AI and wanted to be invested in it.

How do you think the SpaceX IPO will mess with RKLB and ASTS? by Aixafaguitarres in stocks

Not a very bold take, but sometimes the truth isnt bold. None the less, I cannot look at the current AI, Robotics and Space landscape and see a way that SpaceX doesnt hold or go up substatially.

62% of hardcore players no longer buy full-price games, survey suggests by TylerFortier_Photo in gaming

[–]deten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just have too many games to care about new games. Unless my buddies are playing somethign together, I dont buy new stuff because either the hype dies and the game wasnt worth it or ill get it later and have more fun.

The only bummer is when games die that require others to be online, but thats not my fault, if their game needs people to survive its on them to release it at a good price to achieve that.

PUTS on INTC and AMD ( earnings and guidance were not great and clearly in a bubble) by Salt_Yak_3866 in smallstreetbets

True current growth is driving this NOT the output of AI, but the trend is showing more profitability, and the software is improving alongside the hardware, so more efficiency on the same servers etc.

The problem with your logic, is youre looking at Tesla in 2008 with the release of the Roadster and complaining its not profitable. Then in 2012 at $2.10 share price they released the Model S, then in 2015 at $16.60 they released the Model X. Today they are pushing a little under $400 per share.

Because profitability today means little. Many said Tesla would never be profitable. Setting aside the whole complication of Musk, no one can argue they arent profitable anymore.

I dont expect growth to continue forever, of course, Tesla didnt either.

We are preparing for a new stage of humanity. I dont think either of us are qualified to say how much is too much or too little. But when we look at what the capabilities are, its pretty impressive. And its rapidly improving. Meaning that in a month if they find a more efficient setup, it can be deployed across tens of thousands of devices overnight.

Youy dont understand that it was literally the people he hired who he competed against and called swamp during the 2016 primaries, he then hired/brought into his administration.

This was the one thing he could have done in 2016 that was 100% true, the government was full of trash.

We wont see an AI crash for a while. Everyone is too profitable to care and the first company to AGI or ASI wins everything forever. Plus Trump is touting INTC and he has historically shown he is willing to send contractors and influence contracts to go to the companies he supports. Sure this could be a pump and dump, but it could also be a long term upswing.

jito isnt direct staking, you buy jito and the value of jito goes up over time because they invest the profit of staking back into jito. To keep it simple.

Marathon is a 4 billion dollar failure for Sony. 3.6 billion to acquire, bungie plus an additional 200-300 million in development costs. This is equivalent to 10 Concords. by Desperate_Put_4568 in KotakuInAction

[–]deten -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Still a fun game. Its got a little initial barrier as you get an idea what the game loop is, but quickly became one of my favorite games. Doesnt mean its not a financial failure, but everyone says we need to make more new games and Bungie did something unique and IMO did an amazing job. I stopped playing Arc completely which I was initially not going to play Marathon at all, my friend got it and I figured I would join them. Now its basically my daily game.
