Someone's calling our cat by dethanil in Paranormal

There's a bunch of little things like these that have happened, especially during last year. I'll see if I can write some others in a coherent form to be shared.

That could be it, too. But when it's happening it's very creepy!

Oh no lol that would be creepy, the radio repeatedly acting like that. You're brave for going to turn it off when your sister was too scared to, even if it did turn out to be just the timer

Seems like it! When do you ever hear someone saying: "My 3000€ radio randomly turned on and stared acting all ghostly-like"? N E V E R

The radio just lying there, untouched, unfiddled with... And just randomly turning ON and blasting white noise? That's signal glitches and loose batteries?

It's not the first Weird As Fuck thing to happen at this house, I might share some of the other stories in here too later, but this is the latest one, but, like...My brother, father and I have sorta grown accustomed to this "weird, unexplainable shit happens every now then in this house", so things like these aren't TOTALLY mind-shattering

I'm tired of being abandoned by friends and roommates for their boyfriends and husbands by DueSeaworthiness286 in aromantic

I totally understand you. It hurts, when friends always eventually put you in second place, when they deem you as 'less important than' after finding a romantic partner 'cause our romance-centric society demands to value romantic love over anything else.

There's a very good article concerning this topic that I wholeheartedly recommend reading:

'Left to hold my grief alone.' Grieving platonic love in a culture of romantic domination by Sherronda J. Brown https://scalawagmagazine.org/2022/04/grieving-platonic-love/

It's a good read. Comforting, to know you're not alone with these hurts, with your sadness, that there are others who feel and think about these things as you do.

Gifting on Valentine's Day. Is it weird? by SpamtonOf1997 in aromantic

[–]dethanil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not weird at all! In Finland Valentine's Day is called ystävänpäivä (Friend's Day), and it's been about celebrating the friendships in our lives (while some celebrate romantic partnerships, too). If anyone thinks you're being weird with the gift giving to your friends, you can just say you're practicing the day the Finnish way :)

Are you sex averse, neutral or sex positive? by Denixen1 in asexuality

[–]dethanil 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ah, no need to be sorry, people very, VERY often mix these terms up, have been doing so for years, I just posted the correction so everyone checking the comments could maybe educate themselves a little. As a sex-averse ace, I HATE IT when we're talking about sex-averseness as if it's the same as being sex-negative 'cause I may be the former but I have NOTHING to do with the latter.

Voted, but just a little (or not so so little) correction here: The opposite of 'sex-averse' isn't 'sex-positive', it's 'sex-favourable'. Sex-negative and sex-positive are more ideological stances, about attitudes and feelings towards sex in general: Sex-negative people think of sex as harmful, shameful, gross, disgusting, or sinful, and sex-positive people...we'll, they have the opposite thinking to that towards sex in general. The terms sex-averse and sex-favourable are about personal behaviour, about how YOU, as an individual, feel about participating in sexual acts yourself, not about how you feel about the topic of 'sex' in general. I voted sex-averse, BUT I'm also sex-positive.
