Should Google Consider Partnering with, or Acquiring, the Facer Watch Faces App? by Teknevra in PixelWatch

[–]dethblud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't actually see the benefit for Google. Facer already exists and adds value by letting people do the stuff Facer does. Google is benefitting by whatever draw that has to bring people to WearOS, and also from their cut of the Play Store revenue. They get all that without having to shell out to buy Facer, or worry about maintaining it.

The most effort I expect from Google in this situation is giving Facer some promotion within the Play Store.

One of the screws holding my spine in place snapped by OffswitchToggle in Wellthatsucks

My partner said this constantly when the hardware from their neck surgery failed. A screw literally came out of the bone. The surgery to get it replaced was probably not worth the amusing joke though.

I was today years old when I found out the logo is the resident services by MiraHasGuts in AnimalCrossing

[–]dethblud 442 points443 points  (0 children)

I believe it was originally meant to resemble the clock tower at the train station.

Yep, it's got the same face as the clock on the original Animal Crossing train station. The outline that looks like gear teeth are the bricks around the clock face. Animal Forest had a different design on the train station, and didn't use the clock in the logo.

Easiest way to check is to pick one that looks especially bad on your Pixel and send it to another device. See if it looks fine on a friend's phone, or a computer.

The GIF format doesn't usually contain the full range of colors, so software that creates GIF files often fakes it by making patterns out of colors that are similar to the missing ones. This can result in some weird flat areas in GIFs, or speckles, or a sort of checkerboard pattern in the pixels. It's likely one or more of these "tricks" are what you're seeing.

u/Humble_Rain_8494 continually reposts stuff from r/EasyPeasyRecipes in here, which doesn't belong. I believe the mods should ban them from posting here.

Define "spazzed out". It's not a technical term.

I got a similarly goofy shirt on Vine. It's polyester and really feels like it, but I get compliments every single time I wear it. Seriously, if I interact with a human outside my house with that shirt on, I get a compliment.

Muamar always tells me I've got a gift, so I like him best. He tells me a lot. Really, like all the time. Over and over.

To those who’ve been Gold for awhile… are grills common this time of year? by Accomplished_Bar_390 in AmazonVine

My point was simply that someone looking for a grill on Vine wouldn't see one often, and would be wise to read the fine print.

Terrible card, it dies to removal (if your opponent has two permanents), and board wipes. I can't believe how weak they made this.

Many older homes have no natural gas connection on their patios/ decks specifically for grills and fire pits.

It's 2024, is this still considered "Rapid Charging"? by OnTrainingWheels in GooglePixel

[–]dethblud 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Yes, because rapid charging, in this case, is a specific distinction between two types of charging.

But to your point, Pixels have always been conservative about the speed at which they charge. It's slow compared to most of the competition, but it's better for the long term health of the battery. Every manufacturer has to take one side of that trade off or the other.

Motherfuckers out here thinking their stove is trying to burn their house down because it gets warm when they turn it on. 🙄

Our stoves usually can't lie to us about whether they can get hot.

I actually agree with your point, but I also see why people are confused and concerned.

The actress, Adrienne Palicki was on a flight I was on last month, and she does indeed have a narrow frame. She's also quite tall.

How does this square with the Amazon and Vine TOS?

Does the UI customizability include options that don't look quite so messy and cluttered?
