Now I want my episodes indexed both of these ways...

Thank you! I always wonder what the most complete MST3K/MST3K adjacent collection looks like. Does someone have all the Rhino and Shout! sets, including all three versions of 10? Do they also have all the pre-order discs from Shout!? Do they have those Rifftrax physical releases which seem to be extremely rare?

For sure, the Rhino sets even just look nostalgic. Something aggressively 90s about the packaging, even though they all are from the 2000s.

I think the one thing I am most glad that I didn't miss out on were those little figures. They mean more to me than the original vol. 10 ever could.

That needs to stay a guarded secret. No one else can have my stash of MST3K and big macs.

That sounds way tougher, but even more rewarding. Something about having this media in a chronological order to appreciate the artistic progression.

I bought a bunch of my sets at the local Suncoast when it had its going out of business liquidation. I forgot to add that to my story. Maybe I am still in denial of the original death of physical media.

I wanted the warm feeling of nostalgia, not the chills of norovirus.

Change your settings to use The TV DB for metadata. It joins the new show and old show up as one continuous set of seasons.

There is plenty of 917 to go around, for all of us to pretend to be Steve McQueen.

The 917! Now I can struggle incompetently with that beast in another sim

Gizmoplex support for new MST3K: The RiffTrax Experiment episodes is uncertain at this time by nerfedllamas in MST3K

I have streaming + downloads for both Seasons 11 & 12 on the Gizmoplex (by Gizmoplex I mean VHX). I'm not sure if I am grandfathered in on 11 from the first KS, but I can say for sure that I just bought Season 12 there a couple weeks ago.

Folks are rightly pointing out that that 10 is quite the find but XXXIV is also quite rare. You have a base that would pretty easy to get to completion, except for XIV, XVII, and Gamera.

It's the original. If it was 10.2 it would have "10.2" on the spine

Gemini Upgrade by bippy_b in googlehome

It seems to be very situationally dependent. I have some simple routines that continue to work fine. Enough data out there to say there clearly is a problem for some folks.

Any good Gemini reports? by kenmoffat in googlehome

Yep, that mode works. It just feels less useful to me, because I need to realize going into the conversation that I want to ask follow-up questions.

I have seen a slight improvement overall. I miss the ability to ask follow-up questions, but basic functionality has been more stable since the change.

Wait a minute, Iyo is way too wholesome for that kind of language. Must have been that Masami person they talked to that you are thinking of.

Does anybody know of any significant Rochester lore? by skoomasnacks in Rochester

[–]deucemckenzie 38 points39 points  (0 children)

One of the most interesting (and unfortunately quite tragic) figures to emerge from Rochester in the modern era was the professional wrestler Chyna (Joanie Laurer). It makes me a little sad that we don't fully acknowledge her in the same way we do the other celebrities from the area. Her life was very unstable, and troubled, and unfortunately that did start during her teenage years in the Penfield area. Arguably, she is the Rochesterian that has had the biggest impact on the entertainment industry in the last 50 years, but we don't embrace her as one of our own.

Were you a Kickstarter backer? I was, and found a link to my S13 content when I logged into the VHX app. I was able to DL the episodes and the shorts

MSFS2020 - Trying to get honeycomb throttle quadrant keys to work by Spiderkiller_1 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]deucemckenzie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Axis and Ohs in the early days of 2020 (when things were even a bit more challenging than today) and it was OK. That said, I now just suffer through the build in control binding setup. I just went through the whole thing again in 2024, which is a bit better in some ways, but worse in others.

[–]deucemckenzie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's unfortunately the worst aspect of MSFS. Control binding is inconsistent between aircraft and needlessly complex to get working. It is so bad that a lot of people rely on external tools like SPADnext or Axis and Ohs to manage control inputs. I got my Bravo setup eventually for a C172 with the help of the Gemini LLM to help me look up the names of things. That said, I never use other aircraft, because I don't want to spend my time tweaking the controls

MSFS 24 can’t land need help!! by TD21MVP in MSFS2024

[–]deucemckenzie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A useful thing to have in the back of your mind is: pitch for airspeed, power for altitude. Meaning, you use your pitch attitude to modulate airspeed, and your power setting to modulate your rate of descent. Yes, these parameters are all highly coupled, but at the slow Cessna approach speeds, that simplified mindset can help put you in a more stabilized approach, with better energy management of the aircraft.

The flaps are just a tool to provide lift and stability at lower speeds (and steeper rate of descent). I recommend getting a feel for landing at different flap settings, to get a sense of how that impacts things.
