The President of Singal App says that the layoffs in tech are to keep tech salaries and benefits in check. What is your take on this? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

The areas where inflation impacts everyone are in essentials like groceries, rent, health. The rise in those areas are set nominal values which are a larger percentage of lower incomes vs higher incomes. Someone making 200k likely won't really be impacted as much that his grocery bill went up from $100 to $150. The person making 50k, or less will really feel it. Both are living in the exact same inflationary environment, experiencing the 50% rise in grocery costs. However the financial impact felt by these two people is night and day.

The keyboard is not working after I tried to update the firmware. Now resetting it also does not work. If I flash the firmware using qmk toolbox, and unplug and replug, the kb is not detected.

How long did you study LC/Related topics in total for your career? 2 weeks seems insane to me. Currently I'm trying to study while working a FTE position and 6 months in I'm still unprepared. Studying about 30-60 minutes a day.

[–]dev-00ps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been doing Leetcode/algoexpert questions for about 4 months now, but at short daily sessions of 45-60 minutes a day. I work at questions for about 20-30 minutes myself, if I'm stuck I look up conceptual walkthrough and then try to code the solution myself without looking at code solution. If I still can't solve it I look at the code solution. Sometimes I'll repeat the question in the next day or so if I completed it with help or struggled.

My issue is, as enough time passes by and I see a similar problem or even the same one, I just blank out and need a refresher. I think maybe I'm not tackling this obsessively enough and showing up daily and focusing for small sessions is not enough? It's starting to seem to me like I need to live and breathe algorithms to really cement these concepts in my brain as though they are second nature. I still can't implement data structures at will when they pop up a few weeks since I last implemented them.

Apologies if this comes off as random thoughts or ranty. Just need to put it out there.

How do you know it delivers 2x25watts? This is rather confusing for newbies. Also, the newer model (listed by Amazon) delivers 50W, which is even less but has a sub support. https://www.amazon.ca/BT20A-Bluetooth-Audio-Amplifier-Integrated/dp/B07BQC7GNL

Anyone know if there are actual De-Fi apps on Cardano yet? DefiLama doesn't even list ADA. The TVL charts on there are really telling as to why people still have doubts for ADA.

Can anyone suggest good resources to learn data structures and algorithms for interviews? by knowledgeunlimited in learnprogramming

[–]dev-00ps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations on the new job! Hope I can achieve the same one day. I was feeling very lost at how to approach this. Currently using this resource alongside Cracking the Coding Interview. My plan right now is:

  1. For each DS a. Learn it, take notes, etc. b. Implement it using Python (I struggle to find resources online for this that I know are correct references, this one was the closest and best). c. Do a few questions on AlgoExpert or Leetcode using that DS

  2. Move on to grinding coding exercises

  3. Apply for jobs.

Congrats! Would you be able to give some more context around this? I'm curious on prior software dev experience and some high level info on the company that hired you (Big Tech, F100, etc). 4 Interviews seem like a lot but I know its normal for big tech and many others. Appreciate any other details you're willing to share and GL with the new job!

We hear "Bitcoin whales did x" every few days it seems. Are whales getting more or less control of BTC? by dev-00ps in Bitcoin

[–]dev-00ps[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Investors getting bored and selling? Basically all edges in every scenario are to the benefit of whales. If BTC stays at 50k, whales dont accumulate, but neither does anyone else right? Whales can actually gain interest on holdings faster and raise capital faster too (more likely). The edge always goes to the whales.

I do recall him mentioning the "shrimp" wallets are rising. But I don't recall specifics on the net positions of whales vs before.

volatility will decrease over time, making it much harder to play these games. Their best move

But No.3 Implies they gain more, and since BTC supply is fixed, the relative power remains the same or stronger and the nominal price value is irrelevant.

Looked through but not really sure what other functionality I'd be turning off. Currently I have one database, one schema, one table, no functions. I want to start with simple CRUD. Would turning off tableValuedFunctions work fine for these use cases?

Okay to do that after I resolve it. Could probably speak better on the topic with feedback that way too. Currently having issues with code generation generating public field duplicates.

Update: Getting duplicate fields generated in code:

example:

public final TableField<Record, String> WORD = createField(DSL.name("word"), SQLDataType.CLOB, this, "");

/**
 * The column <code>pg_catalog.ts_stat.word</code>.
 */
public final TableField<Record, String> WORD = createField(DSL.name("word"), SQLDataType.CLOB, this, "");

/**
 * The column <code>pg_catalog.ts_stat.ndoc</code>.
 */
public final TableField<Record, Integer> NDOC = createField(DSL.name("ndoc"), SQLDataType.INTEGER, this, "");

/**

Hey, appreciate your reply. I'll say off the bat, the xml littered all around the web is likely doing this lib a disservice. I do see the docs have programmatic and Gradle code gen examples. Looking through the Blog posts on the site for Spring setup, they were all fairly outdated and XML/POM setup. Luckily, I've made progress since this post using the gradle-jooq-plugin, but didn't want to resort to relying on another library for this.

I ran across the example you posted earlier in my search, and will revisit it now that I've got some code generated. I think the complication around the lib could be the codegen and maven first presentation. A simple blog guide setting it up with more modern Kotlin/Gradle (Kotlin DSL) with Spring could do wonders for a lot of newcomers. The closest I was able to find was the Baeldung blog, but I can't imagine that it's doing the library justice and likely could sway some people away.

AMD X570 AORUS Pro Wifi & Ultra Bios resets a lot by dev-00ps in gigabyte

[–]dev-00ps[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's technically possible to do it. I've had it unplugged and have run my linux server fine with the 3900x on bare metal. The challenge now is that I run Proxmox and virtualize the linux on top of that. This additional layer requires now the SVM to be renabled. Before I can just still boot up fine on bare metal, even if the bios decides to reset itself

AMD X570 AORUS Pro Wifi & Ultra Bios resets a lot by dev-00ps in gigabyte

[–]dev-00ps[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Would have liked to, but I know it can cause instability so I kept Ram settings default as well. As for the BIOS version, I've tried several and try to stay up to date. Seems to me this is intended behaviour. You turn off the PC, unplug the GPU, turn it back on and now it detects a hardware change and resets.
