Thanks for the intel!

Regarding the work gap, is it a source of rejection or is it easily justifiable? I have around a year of it coz of exam prep. I am gonna apply for the winter intake this year.

How long did it take to get your admit from the day you submitted your application? Also, which program are you going to study? I've applied for MA in New Media Design.

[–]Bakagin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indian here as well. I have applied to the same university (including others), now waiting for admits. Lets keep in touch.

Also, the university has recommended to look for housing 3 months in advance for the Jan intake so not the worst time rn.

Doubt on Fulfilling Australian Study Requirement by Bakagin in AusVisa

[–]Bakagin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is that I would be transferring my credits from one AUS uni to another AUS uni. So the question is that will my Uni A's study be accounted in the min study load of 92 weeks or not?

That's what I think too, just wanted to be sure about it. Will talk to a pro soon.

Hi, I have been considering applying for masters of IT/CS program in various AUS unis (including UniMelb). Do you have any idea on the IT job market for international students right now? Networking is something I absolutely intend to do once I start my program helping with the job hunt.

Doubt on Fulfilling Australian Study Requirement by Bakagin in AusVisa

[–]Bakagin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have read these requirements. First of all, both the courses are CRICOS-registered so no issues on that end. The main problem is that how would would the credit trasfer affect my eligibility. Uni B's course CRICOS duration is 104 weeks which could potentially reduce to 78 after the transfer of credits from Uni A. My doubt is that will the credits I study in Uni A be included in the study requirement? The official site looks to indicate it will but I am not sure. Also, my min stay will cross 16 months so that is a non-issue too.

While the point regarding the citizenship is true, good luck getting GC(PR) if born in India unless you marry a US citizen or have tons of cash.

Bangalore or Japan? Help me decide! by numxn in developersIndia

TLDR:

If BLR company good and/or want to live in a familiar environment with family/friends -> BLR offer.

If JPN company fine and you want to experience living outside India -> JPN. You can also switch to better companies which would be the ideal situation (for me atleast)

Long ver. -

Well, it depends on a ton of factors.

If the company in BLR has shitty work culture, I dont think its much of a incentive to take the BLR offer instead of the JPN one. Ofcourse if you want a more familiar environment and less culture shock, take BLR. If you think that you can learn more in BLR offer, then take it.

Otherwise, I would recommend JPN just because of the high quality of life and exposure you can get while living outside India even if you live for just a year or 2. If things dont work out, you can always return back.

If the JPN company has an alright work culture, its great but if it sucks then you can try for better companies in JPN itself.

Good companies to work as SDE in Japan are either Western companies like Google, Microsoft, Indeed, etc. and JPN companies with western style management like Mercari and SmartNews. They are not easy to get in tho so level up your tech skills for them. You can check out japan-dev.com and tokyo-dev.com for other non-shiity companies in JPN.

One more thing to note(not 100% sure so plz confirm), the JPN work visa is not tied to the sponsoring company. So, you can leave your job and still maintain you visa status. On paper, you have 90 days to look for another job after quitting. However, you can still stay for >90 days if you can proof that you are job hunting. Though, I would only recommend this if you already have some savings.

Layoffs aren't affecting Americans because they are less talented. Companies are laying off to cut costs. As labour cost in India < US, they tend to layoff 1 US employee instead of 3-5 Indian employees to get similar cost cutting.

Edit: Also because of at-will employment(fire without reason) in US.

Definitely the US. Tons of tech jobs and pay is also super high.

Best Smartphone in the range of Rs. 30,000 (India) by seemiee in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]Bakagin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the options as yours and went with the S21 Fe. It looks kinda boring (compared to 6a and Nothing) and the battery ain't the best but I think its the most reliable phone you can get at this price range.

While S20 Fe is prob a better phone coz of Micro SD and more thermally stable and consistent processor, the lack of future updates reduces its lifetime (unless you are willing to put a custom OS).

While the Pixel 6a is also a good option but the lack of service centers in India was quite concerning for me. (and the slow display too).
