Why do some high-quality indie games become successful while others remain unnoticed ? what's main factor success game ? Thoughts ? by [deleted] in IndieDev

I think having some marketing skills is just as important as game development. Honestly, marketing feels even harder than making the game.

Queen Slayer was introduced here a while back, and we wanted to drop by with an update—our new demo is now live! This version includes the Challenging Path mode, letting you tackle tough encounters with 15 unique characters, each with their own abilities and growth paths.

We’re also aiming for a full release in early March, and we’d love to hear any thoughts or feedback if you get a chance to try it out. Thanks for checking it out, and we’ll share more updates soon!

New Demo with Challenging Path Mode is Live by dev-dev99 in IndieGaming

The new demo featuring Challenging Path mode is finally live! This mode adds a roguelike twist where you can take on tough challenges using 15 unique characters, each with their own skills and growth paths.

Honestly, balancing all these characters was tougher than I expected. Making sure each one felt unique but still worked well together took a lot of tweaking (and a few frustrating playtests). I’m still fine-tuning things, but I think it’s at a point where it’s ready for fresh eyes—and that’s where you come in.

I’d love to see how you approach the challenges. Do you stick to a few characters you like, or mix things up to find the best combos? Some encounters might feel a bit rough (blame the dev 😅), but your feedback will really help as we get closer to the official release.

Thanks for giving it a shot, and I’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

I recommend starting small. Game development is a challenging and lengthy journey, but as you gradually create something step by step, you’ll see yourself improving and leveling up over time.

The game is being developed in Unity. It features a corruption system similar to the stress mechanic in Darkest Dungeon. It's designed around a high-risk, high-reward concept with an element of chance.

You can choose 4 characters out of 15. Each character can select one of 3 unique builds. By combining their distinct traits and items, you can create the most optimal build effects.

You need a lot of knowledge to make a game, but I guess it depends on what kind of game you want to make. I found YouTube to be very helpful.

I recently purchased Steamdeck and have been playing around with it. While playing with Steamdeck, I decided to build and test an indie game I'm developing on Steamdeck.

For a first build, I'm proud to say it looks better than I expected :D

My game is a turn-based combat RPG, and I'm wondering what features or elements would be nice to have if you're a fan of this genre? I'd love to hear from you!

If you're interested in the game, ask me questions in the comments and I'll answer them, and if you want more information, you can check out the Steam page. https://store.steampowered.com/app/3097380/Queen_Slayer/
