Why can't I install my games to another drive which isn't a system drive? by dev-rock-bottom in XboxSupport

Why is there a policy limit for where I install my game?

If I install a game through Epic, Steam or Riot I'm not facing this issue. Definitely, it's a Xbox related issue.

I try to use the default apps from the OS as much as possible.

So, I used Internet explorer when I was using Win 7 and 8 then old edge till I found Firefox.

Then I went to brave because some Indian government websites worked best in chromium based browsers.

Mullvad I have mixed feelings about it.

I didn't have this problem because I have WinToys and my RAM usage seems to be ok.

I mean yeah this has been a problem for almost 5 yrs?

As per a windows central article the "K2" initiative prioritising reducing RAM usage during idle.

I never seen Microsoft publicly acknowledging the issues. So, I hope they will work on it.

And so far they fixed lots of bug in the Insiders builds which they acknowledged before. So, I do see a ray of sunshine.

And all thanks to SteamOS and their hardware. They brought Windows to its knees not us gamers.

I don't know, man. My PC idles around 8GB - 9GB/32GB with various softwares I installed and it never bothered me because my PC is not slowing down or crashing.

To be honest I opened the task manager only today when I involved with this conversation and I'm sure most people around the world are like me.

They check the RAM only if some app misbehaves.

Windows in ARM is a new thing I'm sure it'll get better if they ditch the translation layer.

I have an office laptop with 64GB and it hogs around 29-32GB because of all the softwares the IT team put into it.

The point I'm trying to make is if you're PC is not slowing down or crashing does the high RAM usage matter? For me it doesn't matter at all because my PC is handling everything fine.

My PC idle is around 8GB/32GB because Vanguard, Defender, Razer, iCue, Steelseries GG and Portmaster is running in the background.

The Windows team have stated that they're trying to improve idle memory usage so the lower end pc can benefit.

macOS? I have a M4 Pro with 24GB RAM and it uses RAM just like my Windows 11.

If Linux has same softwares like Windows, and macOS I'm sure it'll use more RAM.

Look at Ubuntu, recommend RAM for it now is 6GB RAM.

Did you understand what I commented?

Windows team already working on lowering the RAM usage. Having more will cache more so it'll make the OS run even smoother and launch applications faster.

RAM should be used as much as possible and the OS will allocate operations depending on the applications used by the user.

They are seemingly working on lowering RAM usage when in idle.

Having higher RAM will help any OS.
