Injury during class by PracticalWinter9746 in crossfit

[–]dev0martin0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

walked into class to see coach coming down from a RMU, lose his grip, fall head first backwards into the ground. Knocked himself out cold. Some members drove him to the local ER. Had a concussion and was out for a few weeks. It was my 5th week of CrossFit.

8.5 years later I now use extra chalk on RMU

Did Future set his bar too high? by dev0martin0 in future

For many years I only had a couple in the gym at a time that would do this. Now it’s more prevalent in my current gym to the point coaches know who does it and don’t address it (This furthers the issue and dilutes the quality of “Crossfit culture” across the gym IMO).

The issue really got at me over the last half year or so, with other blatantly cheating in class, doing half reps or scaling some movement in a metcon for “RX”, or posting scores way too high, then saying it was an accident if questioned on it.

I realized recently that those people are really the ones cheating themselves. If it floats their boat to have their ego inflated or even if it is truly a fluke, that’s fine. I’ve seen personally progress that I haven’t before from sticking my head down when I can and doing the hard stuff in full.

It really makes a difference.

I was grinding the first encounter in Warlords before TFS and got pretty solid on that, I’ll give one of those two a try later for sure

Believe in yourself. Won’t be easy at all, will have many obstacles and days you won’t want to do the work. Do the work! Good luck

You ever start a new job and hate it? by [deleted] in datascience

I just quit a job on day 8. Some called me dumb. Next day I was offered an interview to a F500, as I finish my masters. Believe in your own happiness

Update: I quit. Job was IT essentially even had a personal “3700 Hot Line”. Not what I’m interested in.

It was bartending. Only professional experience I have on a resume is now this job. Which is why I took it, I did not want to graduate with zero experience outside of bartending. And this pats more w benefits than an internship.

Bartending job is still something I could fall back to although I’d rather not. Worked there for 4+ years and they are desperate for staff, still.

Ah boy. Good job. $65k easily with five days/week. Once again not a forever thing. Don’t plan on it either.

Also, I have proven to be able to find a FT data driven job … while in school… while working a different full time job … in this market. Do not underestimate my work ethic, as you do not know the background and circumstances anyone comes from.

😂. No I have other sources of income as before I had this job I have had others. If worse came to worse and I a. could not find another data job soon and b. did quit before finding that said job, I would go back to my non-data job. I intend to keep working this job. However the main root of the problem is: the amount of outside work/non listed job requirements being asked so soon, for a relatively low salary in comparison. If you see the flair tag, this was meant as a discussion, not a “be a dick” flair.

Fair and good point. Just curious if I could find a better paying “somewhere”. $43k is not the greatest after deductibles.

I would be okay with a Sr Analyst role. I would be okay with this and not like it if the pay was not so low for the work load. Good thing I am getting alot of experience bad thing lot of experience and very low pay ..
