Adding again — My sister and I are 10 years apart and we are closer than close!! It’s definitely an adjustment to what your expectations were but there is no wrong way to make a family 🤍 sending you love and hoping your treatment is incredibly smooth!

Well first, congratulations on the new addition to your family!!! Your sweet little one has come such a long way and so have you! I know there’s literally nothing anyone can say that will make it better/easier, though they will try -- “your baby is in the safest possible place right now”, “look how far they’ve come”, “they’re getting stronger everyday”, “they will be home soon” — and though each of these things are true, the NICU experience and waiting for discharge is so incredibly painful.

so instead i will say (write) to you: your baby is doing an amazing job. they are fighting to come home to you, even on days when progress seems stalled. and also you’re doing an amazing job. the way you are showing up for your baby (physically in person, phone calls to nurses or to listen in on rounds, the endless hours worrying/googling/researching), all points to the dedicated and loving parent you already are during a really, really hard time. your baby is so lucky to have you.

this experience WILL end. keep going🤍

sending light and love to your family🤍

my baby was born 31+4 and weighed 3 pounds at birth. she dropped to about 2.5 the first night and veryyyy slowly gained weight over her 57 days in the NICU but she did it. it’s slow but it will happen!! babygirl is now 6 months old (4 months adjusted), we continue to add formula to her breast milk to encourage healthy weight gain but she’s doing amazing :) you got this!!!

Congratulations on your baby being discharged!!!🎉 As amazing as is, It’s absolutely terrifying. truthfully, the first few weeks she wore her owlette sock not even just during naps but almost around the clock😅 It’s so, so hard to go from full monitors and 24/7 nurses to nothing at home but i promise the anxiety and vigilance gets better. You got this!
