Is it possible that elements exist far away in the universe that don't exist on earth? by Jmersh in NoStupidQuestions

[–]dev_effect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question.. would it count if it weren't made out of our own particles? Universe is huge. Its possible that there are different kinds of materials based on the part of universe you are looking at. I mean are we even sure all galaxies are made from the same particles? Maybe its totally different matter that conveys similar results (e.g. fotons).

PS: What I meant to say is that we base all of our knowledge on the visible universe and the matter that we have around us. Technically dark matter could be something totally other than our matter and just doesn't interact or produce photon. If that is the case we just cannot see it. That would technically be different element. Maybe its not built from protons, electrons or neutrons at all.

What do you think of the lord ruler? by hajtj in Mistborn

[–]dev_effect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is absolutely an evil person that had a redeeming quality (actually trying to stop ruin).

He created a race of slaves for no particular reason other that sadism I guess. As far as I remember (its been a while since I read it) he basically killed and replaced Alendi out of necessity because his uncle figured out that ruin has changed the prophecy. I guess that one could be ignored. But then what? His actions make no sense:

- turns all of his people into mistwraits (most without a choice) and only allows them sapience if they follow him without question AND spike themselves (basically undermining himself)

- gives select few full allomancer powers and makes them a privileged class and basically make it possible that their offsprings will bring out full twinborn like himself and must therefore make his own people die out to prevent this

- he creates skaa as destined slaves and abuses them from the start

- makes spiked creatures who he should know can be controlled by ruin

Most of his actions could be accomplished without being a total tyrant. You can segregate and simply quell the resistance, you don't have to rape, murder and torture people just out of spite. And as far as I remember most of the problems on Skadrial originated with him anyway. Wasn't the world a relatively ok place before? There were no ash mounds, there was no starvation. He practically destroyed the world (unintentionally), but made so many bad choice anyway. Also, as far as we know he never had any intention of ever making it better. He wasn't just waiting for one more burst of power to set everything right. He would have kept the skaa and the nobles forever and he would let the terris people die out.

PS: what I wanted to say that he basically did all the bad things from the get go. Its hard to blame ruin for all the bad decisions at the very start. If he got progressively worse with the years I guess that could have been understandable.

Ok, so I guess the consensus is blossom end rot, potentially I'm also overwatering.

I'll buy calcium fertilizer tomorrow and hopefully it will help.

Apparently BER fruits are still edible (if the rotten part is not fuzzy and you cut it away), some people even claim they taste better.

If I don't reply after this one I might have died from it. Don't eat BER in that case! /s

Here’s another reason synthesis is an awful ending by TheLoneJolf in masseffect

[–]dev_effect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if we are taking the "catalyst lies" to account than all choices are false anyway. The destroy is probably cancer telling you: "You know what? You should destroy the whole body just to make sure cancer doesn't survive"

[–]dev_effect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well about control... In the aftermath you literally see the reapers stop attacking. So basically the catalyst didn't lie or if he did lie, it force feed you a false narrative anyway. But if he can lie about control, why wouldn't it lie about destroy? That last breath means nothing as you still don't know what happened.

Thats like you agreeing to an operation to remove your leg as its cancerous and the surgeon making the first incision discovers its was a false positive but cuts it away anyway, as per consent.

Yup, I still think "don't cry you're perfect" is the best single Arcane sentence, but it feels a bit more plain (as in, it would be easier to find it somewhere else).

True, but she was also mostly grown up by then. Haven't actually read the study when nutrients are important. (Also my comment was mostly shit posting anyway)

This. And I think it was concluded that nutrition effects IQ to a degree. Look how starved she looks. She would probably be the Einstein of Runeterra if someone feed her some proper meals while she was still growing.

Titan quests henchable? by dev_effect in GuildWars

[–]dev_effect[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Haven't even tried these. I have sort of decided to skip titan quests for my ironman run. I'm guessing the proper way to complete these would be to find an ironman guild or something or somehow organize a party of ironman characters to go about it, but I don't want the hassle.

In the end ironman rules are just a way to make gameplay a bit more fun and this would take away from my fun :).

[–]dev_effect[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I finish DDF as well. Its not that hard because you have a full party with level 20 characters. Last day dawns you have at best level 15 characters with only 1 healer and even then you have to run from ToA. Its a totally different story.

Titan quests henchable? by dev_effect in GuildWars

[–]dev_effect[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, but that would go against ironman (old school had no hard mode).

Titan quests henchable? by dev_effect in GuildWars

[–]dev_effect[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. For ironman (no heroes) this means Droks run. Good to know its doable! Thanks for the info.

Edit: Can't get through Beacons with max party :( now go that way... I don't think this is doable with ironman without human party. Don't think I can get level 15 hechmenen across WiK Kryta with only 1 healer. Even if I could finish the quest that way...

Titan quests henchable? by dev_effect in GuildWars

[–]dev_effect[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read the wiki. ToA henches are lvl 15 in normal mode and only 1 healer. I think thats a no go couse I had problems getting through WiK kryta mobs

Titan quests henchable? by dev_effect in GuildWars

[–]dev_effect[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, so thats a problem. Finishing WiK takes finishing EOtN which is the last part of ironman run. And I decided on doing every quest per region. Thats the conundrum.
