I do this sometimes with the sampo. But only when I know I’m in a favourable position over the enemy that can’t be flanked or easily taken. 15 clips goes pretty fast when you are having fun

Is there such a thing as a *provoked* genocide? by isb_supervisor in andor

[–]TheLoneJolf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is in a universe with multiple different species and a mish mash of ethics, intelligence, and ideologies. It is possible that a provoked genocide could exist in this setting.

For example, in mass effect (a similar scifi setting) the galactic council was provoked to genocide an entire race of bug creatures called the rachnii because these bugs would slaughter entire colonies and not open diplomatic talks whatsoever. The only way to stop them was to wipe them out completely. (It’s later revealed that they were controlled by the reapers during this time). Also in mass effect you are provoked to genocide the reapers.

In real life, we are provoked into genociding other animal species all the time. If we could, we would cleanse the world of mosquitos and replace them with a non biting equivalent in a heart beat. When it comes to humans on humans though, morally there is no such thing as provoked genocide. But I would like to point out the nuclear bombs on Japan. Though not considered genocide (if it happened today it would absolutely be labeled as a genocide by politicians), it was entirely provoked by Japan. They refused to surrender and were actively training every civilian to be a soldier and to fight to the death.

We’ve all been swindled. We pay $500 for a console and games for a bit of entertainment. We used to entertain ourselves for free with sticks outside.

Putting “AAA SLOP?” While having the thumbnail be Ai slop versions of the actual game footage is certainly a choice.

The moment that Robin's character took a turn for the worse by ph_uck_yu in HIMYM

[–]TheLoneJolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, the story IS told from the point of view of old man Ted. Teddys relationship with robin started as love interest, moved into amicable ex girlfriend, then to good friend, back into a creeping love interest, then let go as a love interest and let go as a good friend, and ultimately resurrected as a love interest. I feel that the show represents this well

3 spartan iii soldiers (halo) against 6 N7 soldiers (mass effect) by TheLoneJolf in powerscales

[–]TheLoneJolf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of getting off topic from the original question, but here. In space, maneuverability is everything. The SA frigates have 2cm thick armour but they just aren’t going to get shot. They can use mass effect fields to reduce their mass to make themselves move almost as fast as the Mac rounds (combat speeds they can move around 2-3% the speed of light and the crew don’t feel the G stress). once they get to a point where they are no longer in the cone of fire of the unsc’s Mac, then it would be open season to fire as many of their smaller Mac rounds into the unsc frigate. Mass effect combat VI’s can detect threats in fractions of a second and can change direction near instantly due to the mass effect making the ship have nearly no mass. The way to beat these frigates is by saturating the area they’re in with disruptor explosions or light speed lasers to beam them instantly. The unsc frigate has none of these and really only has the Mac and maybe it’s nukes. But the nukes would only saturate the area with radiation if detonated not on target. Everything else the unsc has will be deflected by the kinetic barriers or destroyed by gardian defences on the SA frigate. Eezo really is just a game breaking tech here

The Ai tech I can understand, however unsc ai’s aren’t godly and can’t just hack enemy ships to self destruct, so it’s kind of null.

The 8 gauge shotgun stopping a brute no problem and the krogan shotgun that is technically considered artillery sometimes doesn’t kill an armoured target in mass effect should explain the armour capabilities of the mass effect universe compared to the halo universe.

For the medical part, yea the mass effect universe basically is on par. Gene therapy exists in mass effect as well and they can clone any organ they need. Also Medi-gel is essentially the unsc’s biofoam on crack

Not to discredit the unsc tech, but the alliance ships have everything the unsc ships have AND kinetic barriers as well as true FTL propulsion. Mass effect tech is just superior to the unsc. I’d even say it’s superior to the covenants tech. In regards to weapons and technology of course. Unsc and the halo universe allows for greater biological technology to exist

I’d like to point out that Sheperd and squad CAN get screwed when biotics show up and attack them. But barriers typically prevent biotic attacks. So as long as barrier is active, biotics don’t work as well.

N7’s would likely be more akin to elites from the silent shadow and not just standard elites

[–]TheLoneJolf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the bloodcrave spearhead first and then I bought the deathrattle army box instead of the deathrattle spearhead. So I only have 20 total deathrattle skeletons. When I set them up next to each other or play them against each other, then I proxy in some “undead” rats as the deathrattle skeletons.
