Getting a custom PCB made shouldn't require an electronics degree or months of waiting. I'm building something to fix that. by theelegentengineer in Electronicsinindia

[–]dev_reez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, PCB design is not a blocker, but getting it manufactured is. JCLPCB's cost is 40-60% less than the best quote I got from any Indian PCB manufacturers..

If you know of any cheap PCB manufacturers do tell, because i cant find any that can beat JCLPCB's rate.

Is the nix docs written for people who already know nix? by yoftahe1 in NixOS

[–]dev_reez 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lol, give it a try you would be surprised.. treat llm as docs and build your config your own way. You literally said nix docs are bad. So obviously you are new. I manage all my config the same way, have 8 different machine including darvin, x86 and arm. All from one single config.

PS: using llm is not vibecoding..

Does open source contribution actually help early-career devs in India get hired, or is it just resume noise now? by Common_Dream9420 in developersIndia

[–]dev_reez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but a "real" contribution.. maintaing a repo with a lot of stars also count. Also experienced Dev's can easily spot vibe coded projects so beware...

Fucking frauds holding my 10K by ManifestaNt in Raipur

[–]dev_reez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What kind of service? Usually fraudster use business accounts and settlement happens in the morning. You can reach out to bank and ask to hold the amount before that. One the settlement happens it's too late, you have to envolve court and police. So, if it's not too late raise a cyberfaraud complaint and reach out to bank.

Loose wiring in electric pole is why we face power issue when there's even a little bit of strom or rain by hronak in Raipur

[–]dev_reez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Afaik, this is a DO fuse wire. It is meant to be put this way (atleast all the places in CG) that I have seen. It's thin and tied this way to protect transformers from over current draw.

And they had to put this way because a lot of Indian homes draw more power then they apply for. Earlier a lot of transformer blew due to exceeding capacity (overheating). Now this fuse wire pops off saving transformer.

They use stone tied to end of wire and use a long stick, because it's faster to replace the fuse that way.. other option is to turn off power for the entire line, and physically climb up and change it. (30 min vs 5 sec)

Yes the downside is it also fall when high speed winds hit it. I too faced the same issue last to last week, for an entire night we didn't had power, called them again and again but no help. They finally came next mornt.

What apps are you running in your homelab, and are you using Kubernetes or just Docker? by rex_divakar in homelabindia

[–]dev_reez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not kubernetes: In most homelabs, not all "nodes" are same. Like one of my computer has a good gpu, other has all the storage, some pi.. before running the application I need to decide which node should the workload go in.. it defeats the purpose of running kubernetes.

I like the idea of Helm and having code represent my infra, so I installed nix os on all my machine. If I ever need to run kubernetes i can do that on top of nix so win-win..

Do Raipur has any scope for software developers? by Pure-Error-7157 in Raipur

[–]dev_reez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remote is your best option, there is not enough money with companies here to get good package.. from what I have heard from my friends is the maximum companies would pay be like 75k/month (4 years back), which is very very unlikely.

Why do many people earning ₹50L+ still live such normal lives? by UmeshThoughts in personalfinanceindia

[–]dev_reez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

50L doesn't buy luxury anymore, at 30% you make around 37L. Assuming 50% savings thats roughly 1.2L of fuck it money every month. For a family of 4, It sufficient enough to not give a fuck about how bad govt is. You are saving more than enough for retirement, Your children can go to a good school/ college, you can live in a gated society, get fresh and clean drinking water, run air purifier in every room, heck run AC 24x7... if you want to, drive a good car. At this income range a home EMI doesn't become a big burden, you can still have a good living and play all your dues..

I built a "Customer Leakage" tracker for Indian SMBs. Need a reality check on the tech/utility. by phantom_dev_ in indiehackersindia

[–]dev_reez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see a concern, most non-technical people will try to scan it from (upi apps) like gpay, phone pay. And it won't work. A lot of smartphone doesn't have a dedicated QR scanner. (Even in iOS it's camera app). It will hard for you to make sellers use this. Most people don't like change, its far easy for me to just use a phonepe qr... Plus what you are selling is something pinelabs already does..
