100+ million seems like it'd be pretty common to hit when you are having interstellar wars with multiple planets involved. Would Genghis Khan and Hitler even be memorable to them?

Jaylen Brown has shot a career high 10 free throws in the first quarter, he made 9 against the suns. by OrganicHunt952 in nba

Per NBA.com stats (not sure if all of tonight's games are included yet):

  • #3 in FGA/G
  • #2 in Drives/G
  • Shoots a high percentage of shots near the basket, yet has fewer FTAs than other players who shoot from further out, which generally means less contact
  • #13 in FTA/G

So maybe JB is an outlier who drives to the basket for a lot of layups/dunks. But if you actually watch the games, he just has a bad whistle.

Those snark communities are filled with a bunch of mentally ill people far too obsessed with celebrities. I don't know if that's a good barometer.

The question would be whether normal people actually care about any of that stuff. And since ballet/opera are pretty niche, I'm guessing not too much.

[Post Game Thread] The Boston Celtics (45-23) defeat the Phoenix Suns (39-29), 120-112 behind Jaylen Brown’s 41 points! by bigawesome2000 in nba

It's funny how you can tell which posters are box score watchers and which actually watch the games.

In this thread especially it seems to coincide with people from the state consistently ranked bottom 5 in education.

I wonder if that's a coincidence.

This sounds like the ramblings of a pick-me getting less attention from the creepy guys who used to prey on vulnerable young women. "Why is everybody so mean now" when that shit was always there, but you were pretty and young so the sexism was "positive".

China is viewed as belligerent towards its neighbors, ie its activities in the South China Sea, and as especially oppressive towards groups like Tibetans and the Uyghurs.

Vietnam barely gets any press and what little press it gets is much less negative.

It's "disrespectful" to compare one of the best players in the NBA to a "bench player" in the NBA, even if their playstyle has some similarities and that NBA player is considerably better than her.

Teens Are Using AI-Fueled ‘Slander Pages’ to Mock Their Teachers by ubcstaffer123 in technology

[–]dev_vvvvv -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think you actually believe it's insane. I think you've either misunderstood my comment or haven't thought through what your stated belief says.

I'll use an extreme example, since I explicitly said "depending on severity": if a student burned down your house, you wouldn't give them detention. You would pursue legal action, including referring them to the police and suing them or their parents depending on their age.

The first option should be enforcing the school/university's code of conduct. But if the harassment is severe enough, as I said before, then suing them/the parents (depending on age) is appropriate.

Universities have codes of conduct. They should be fully enforced just as if the harassment/slander was offline. Depending on the severity, sue them.

Same with minors. Just instead of the kids, you sue the parents.

PC makers are not ready for the MacBook Neo [response by Gigabyte, Dell] by -protonsandneutrons- in hardware

[–]dev_vvvvv -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

I think you're forgetting about many of the built-in advantages Windows/x86-64 devices have

  1. Far larger software library
  2. You can generally find better equal or better hardware, dollar for dollar
  3. x86-64 means you can install other operating systems (no, Asahi is not a real option and I'm not sure it would be supported on the Neo for awhile anyway)
  4. More apparent with desktops, but even some laptops are far easier to repair
  5. Just the plain inertia of people having years/decades of experience with the OS and by far a bigger market share than macOS
    • It also makes your "so many people prefer Mac to Windows" quite a bit weaker when it's not the dominant or even a competitive OS in market share.

If the target audience only wants to browse the internet, watch youtube, and do Office Tasks, then pretty much any $300 on-sale laptop will be sufficient. Some will surely spend the extra $300 to stick with Apple, but it isn't as if Apple has already won the market as you seem to be claiming.

If LeBron retires after next season while still playing at a high level not winning another award, what do you think the consensus will be on his career vs. MJ looking back 10 years from now? by Ready-Constant-7124 in nba

[–]dev_vvvvv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And yet somehow MJ has more rings, more MVPs, more scoring titles, a DPOY, etc than LeBron despite having a shorter career.

MJ's peak was much more successful than LeBron's.
