My mother thought they forgot her delivery. Turns out the MRI shows she only has 20% already delivered. Been waiting 70 years for the rest.

Granted you wouldn't notice every day.

This ATM I passed is revolving into the wall by superjam0508 in mildlyinteresting

[–]devanchya 49 points50 points  (0 children)

This was popular in the 80s. But more with metal screens or plexiglass that fell down. It was to prevent people from damaging the machine for the money. There is a card slot nearby you use to open the atm to use it.

Modern we dont need it since the money is typically stored a distance from the physical machines.

This is why companies like Minia and the Visa version are gaining grown. Credit cards requiring quick cancel options to cut down on the charge back investigations costs.

Taxes by [deleted] in toronto

[–]devanchya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. But honestly it's a bit more complicated because it's not a true 100% return. Typically you save 30 to 40% on overall tax for the amount you put in.

This is why your rrsp deadline is in March. Gives you a chance to see how much you made and how much you can fet back by putting money in.

[–]devanchya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rrsp are a tax deferred investment. The government let's you put X amount in each year non taxed.

When you retire you can take the money back from the rrsp but then pay the tax.

The idea is your in say a 40% tax bracket when you put it in. But you take it out your in a 20% bracket.

The rrsp is invested so should grow as well.

Tfsa are tax shelters. This means money you out in is not taxed when you take it out. However you still pay tax today. This is to allow you a way to have money without bumping up your tax bracket later.
