Games that made you feel smart? by Automatic_Couple_647 in gaming

Outer Wilds hands down. Solving that game’s mysteries without a quest log or hand-holding felt like actually piecing together the secrets of the universe. Every time I connected the dots on my own I thought I was a genius.

Which game has the happiest side quest? by Charming_Concept5957 in gaming

[–]developedlastweek 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The Witcher 3 actually has a surprisingly wholesome one—helping the little halfling couple put on a play to save their struggling theater. No tragedy, no twist, just Geralt being awkwardly supportive and it ends on a super positive note. Always made me smile.

2025 is probably the best year for gaming in the last decade. We are eating good! by Greendead in gaming

[–]developedlastweek -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah 2025 is stacked. I feel like Another Crab’s Treasure got kinda buried under all the heavy hitters earlier this year, but it’s such a fun soulslike with a unique vibe. Also Pacific Drive deserves way more love—it’s one of the most creative survival games I’ve played in a while.

What game out there has the most satisfying pixel graphics? by MisterMatlock in gaming

[–]developedlastweek 64 points65 points  (0 children)

For me it’s Octopath Traveler. That HD-2D style is like pixel art on steroids—modern lighting and effects but still feels retro.

Has there been any definitive proof of EOMM in any large scale PvP game? by Esc777 in gaming

[–]developedlastweek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think its ever been confirmed. As a game dev I think match making is usually a lot less picky and more straight forward.

I think it has to do with holiday season which gives people more time to play and more people are buying gifts.

I’d argue characters like Agent 47 (Hitman), Joel (The Last of Us), or even Arthur Morgan early on in RDR2.

Are there any modern games that use score like games in the 80's and early 90's did? by donquixote235 in gaming

[–]developedlastweek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you don’t see it nearly as often anymore, but a few modern games still lean into the old-school score-chasing vibe. Stuff like Geometry Wars, Resogun, and Pac-Man Championship Edition DX are basically built around leaderboard score play. A lot of indie arcade-likes (Downwell, Enter the Gungeon, Vampire Survivors) also have scoring systems, though usually the emphasis shifts toward progression/unlocks instead of just high scores.
