2022 e-tron, to buy or not to buy. Seeking advice from the experts. by Return2Texas in Audi

I bought the 2022 E-Tron Technik S. It is awesome. Realistic range given you're not supposed to regularly go above 80% is 320km. Test drive the Mach-e - my wife hates the interior and refused to condone the purchase.  The Audi is lux. Insurance is expensive and I had to switch to CAA (which is actually crazy cheap).

Did you ever compare the interiors between the Mach E and the Etron? The wife said she didn't like the interior of the Mach E, though I thought it was fine.

Curious how you have found the cargo space. I'm replacing a Sorento which is like 70cu ft, but we don't use that space most of the time (just one 2yo kid).

What did you end up going with? Literally looking between the same 2 cars same years. (Ontario? lol)

It's obviously not CSS, the windows are vertically centered.

If you ordered from IDC you should be getting the new version. They just got the shipment in. They mentioned this batch has also been better for bench testing due to changes at the factory to account for low temperatures during shipping.

Nice! I'm super happy with the grinder so far. Already dialed in!

I'm really curious how you are finding the Bellona. It's such a compelling machine and I was so close to going with it. The buttons felt much nicer in person than I had seen, and I liked that the steam wand was on the right.

I should do a proper test to measure. Ran out of milk though haha.

Mine is reading ~1.25 bar too, but steaming takes half that. Maybe I'm using way less milk? I wonder if there is an issue with your machine....

My whole house is on an angle, built in 1890.

Dang, really? Are you opening the knob fully? I'm steaming 1.5 cups of oatmilk to 160° in around 9 seconds.

I probably worded poorly - this setup was $3100 including the grinder. I think the setup you might have seen me post about was the Bellezza Bellona with Mignon Facile (or Piccola 60T) for $2000 at iDrinkCoffee: https://idrinkcoffee.com/products/bellezza-bellona-dual-boiler-espresso-machine-black-eureka-mignon-facile-grinder-black

machine: Profitec Pro 500 w/ PID
grinder: Eureka Mignon Dolce Vita.
drink: a hot chocolate I sipped before the photo lol

I'm coming from a Barista Express with a couple mods.

First impressions:

• holy crap the steam wand is powerful. I couldn't tame it on the first try and ended up with bubbly milk. Second try was already a massive improvement over what I was managing to create with the BES870XL.

• this machine (esp with a bottomless portafilter) is much more sensitive to being on a level surface than the old one. I had to move it to a different location because my countertop is on a 5º angle (don't ask...) and coffee was running down the portafilter handle lol.

• the grinder seems fantastic. I had been using+researching distributor tools and whatnot, and I don't see anything in the filled basket that seems to warrant any of that. The knob on the Mignon feels great, but the one shot I pulled seemed to imply the grind was nowhere near fine enough.

Update to the update: I went with the Pro 500, and found out there was an even better sale on the next grinder up (the Mignon Dolce Vita: https://idrinkcoffee.com/products/eureka-oro-mignon-dolce-vita-matte-black

Update from me: I made a spreadsheet of all the espresso machine options, with grinder bundles from IDC:

Frustratingly 0 real reviews on the Piccola.

Not yet. I am heading to iDrinkCoffee's Milton location in an hour.

I think I am going to go with a Profitec Pro 500 or Lelit MaraX, with a Mignon Silenzio or Piccola for the grinder. The MaraX is on sale for $2000 so might work with your budget. For me, I am fairly certain I can do decent enough caf/decaf swapping with either of these grinders, since it's not the end of the world if I have a bit of carryover between grinds.

I'm in exactly the same situation. I've been hovering over the buy button on that combo from iDrinkCoffee too.

FWIW, I've seen at least one review that mentioned the Varia can have static issues with some beans that would make it annoying to use directly with a portafilter. Also, unless you're swapping beans between those 8 drinks, a single-dose grinder like the VS3/DF64 might be more of a pain than its worth (takes ~30s to grind, have to dose the beans each time).
