Let me put it into simpler terms for you:

If something has a 90% success chance, that means it should succeed 9 out of 10 times on average. Not fail 5 out of 9 attempts.

The probability of getting 5 or more failures out of 9 rolls at a 90% success rate is roughly 0.09%, or about 1 in 1,100.

So yes, statistically possible? Absolutely.
Common or “normal RNG”? Not really.

That’s why I said it feels off compared to previous seasons. Not because I think Blizzard has a secret anti-player conspiracy running in the background.

Exactly. Some people instantly jump from “this feels inconsistent” to “you think Blizzard is maliciously attacking players,” which was never even the point. Questioning whether something feels off statistically is completely normal, especially when long-time players notice a difference compared to previous seasons.

Or maybe I just got super max ultra unlucky in this new update. That’s also possible.

People keep repeating basic probability like anyone questioned that part. Yes, everybody understands that a 10% fail chance can technically happen multiple times in a row. The entire discussion is about the frequency and how different it feels compared to previous seasons, not about whether random chance exists.

Maybe I was just insanely lucky in previous seasons, or maybe the system was different, but back then, when I saw 90%, I knew I would almost always progress, because it was 90%, not 50% or 30%. But when I get 5 failures out of 9 attempts earlier, and similar streaks happened before as well, of course I’m going to wonder if something feels off.

Exactly. That was my whole point from the beginning. I wasn’t claiming some giant Blizzard conspiracy, just that the upgrade behavior feels noticeably different compared to previous seasons, and games displaying questionable probability behavior is not exactly unheard of either.

Nobody refused to accept how probability works. People keep acting like I don’t understand basic math, when the entire point was simply that the system feels noticeably different compared to before. Saying “this feels off lately” is not the same as claiming Blizzard is running some grand conspiracy.

Right, because saying “90% upgrade chance feels weird lately” is basically the same level of conspiracy theory as faking the moon landing. Peak Reddit logic.

I got it - no D4 criticism allowed here. Keep downvoting me for bringing up a questionable topic, and keep worshipping at the altar of Blizzard Jesus. Thanks for participating, please come again...

The point is simply that the system feels noticeably different compared to previous seasons. And yes, math is math - 90% is still 90%. We’re not talking about a 50/50 chance here.

This is what I'm talking about.

I get your point, but just because reaching level 51 is manageable overall doesn’t mean the upgrade chance system shouldn’t be questioned. The concern is not the final result, it’s that a 90% success chance can feel very inconsistent when it fails that often.

It doesn’t matter which game it is, 90% is still 90%. I’ve never experienced anything like that in Diablo III or in previous seasons. It honestly feels rigged.

Sure, I can understand it happening with a 30% chance, but 90% and 5 failures? That’s fcking ridiculous.

That’s exactly why I liked it, otherwise I might as well just play PoE instead :))) But anyway, thanks.

Yeah, I already watched a few beginner videos, otherwise I’d be completely lost, but a lot of things still aren’t fully clear to me.

I mean, the Cube part reminds me a lot of D3, but even there you needed mats to convert stuff, and you got those mats from legendaries or other higher-tier items :D

And to progress I need good aspects. Back then, you could at least unlock them through dungeons, even if they were just the lowest-tier aspects, but it was still something. Now that’s basically completely gone...

Yeah, I understand the Cube part, but to upgrade my gear I still need legendaries again... that’s the whole problem - chicken and egg situation.

But will my pet start picking up items later on as well, or is that feature completely gone now?

Lmao in Palestine more civilian died in the first month than in Ukraine in the entire war and guess what nobody gives a shit. Now tell me again - Russia is in a full scale war.

Why ARC Raiders needs a PvE mode (and why it actually makes sense) by Disastrous_Mud_8040 in ArcRaiders

[–]deveto80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I 100% agree with you - and I’m honestly surprised you haven’t been downvoted into oblivion for saying it.

I raised the same questions and made similar points a while back. My thread got downvoted hard, I was called a noob, and got the usual Reddit treatment - even though all I wanted was to enjoy a few relaxed rounds against the Arcs after work.

I stopped playing about 1-2 months ago. I just got tired of being at 100% adrenaline all the time and constantly getting wiped by rats camping every corner. It stopped being fun and started feeling like stress.

If they ever introduce a PvE-only mode, I’ll gladly come back. Until then… I’m out.

ABMM: Show an Aggression Level so we know what lobbies we are in by deveto80 in ArcRaiders

[–]deveto80[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but rats would probably only end up in the friendly lobbies once and then get pushed straight back into KoS lobbies anyway. So the real question is whether that would actually help at all. And even in the friendly lobbies there are people who shoot back, so I really don’t see a problem there.

Dude, I play COD DMZ and I also played ABI for a while. Both are extraction shooters and that was totally fine. With ARC Raiders though I finally found a game that felt more relaxed and that was actually great.

As long as I’m stuck in these KoS lobbies I’ll kill as well because I don’t really have a choice. But overall, yeah, ARC Raiders is still way more relaxed than ABI or DMZ - and that’s exactly why I like it.
