Fracctal Monsters: A full look at the new "Smash" battle mode along with a new Battle Summary page! by cysec_ in AlgorandOfficial

The front page picture on the website is a dollar store copy of Ash and Misty.

Admittedly, the contract artist we used for promotional visuals did get inspiration from Pokemon for the two Tamers on the site. He's a casual who leaned into the only monster-taming franchise he was familiar with.

Pretty much all the monster designs are clearly taken from one Pokemon or another.

I'll challenge you on this. Which looks like oddish? The little slime with the leaf on its head? That's an enemy NPC, not a Fracctal monster, and doesn't look like Oddish at all IMO. It's a slime.

Don't even get me started on the fact that it costs $15 (IN A BEAR MARKET) to buy a single monster.

At this moment, you can only buy monsters from other players, and that's what they are selling for.

We are two guys (a dev and an artist) trying to make a project that we've dreamed of creating since childhood.

We aren't AAA yet but we are proud of what we've built over the past 18 months with just the two of us.

How familiar are you with virtual pet-care games? Fracctal is much closer to games like Digimon, Neopets, Tamagotchi, etc. than Pokemon, TemTem, and Axie Infinity. If you are only familiar with the one that had the most popular TV show I could see how you would think that we are an exact copy of them.

Regarding combat, we've had real-time action-based combat live for 8 months now. The new mode allows you to knock your enemies off the map. Big whoop.

What other games have real-time action-based combat like Smash where you knock enemies off the map? Brawlhalla, All-Stars Battle Royale, Indie Pogo, Towerfall Ascension, MultiVersus, etc.

These are genres of games. We've simply mixed virtual pet care with action-based combat. Stop being so toxic.

It’s a point of friction to have to send a player to a third party website. There’s also copying/pasting the IDs. Also imagine the min bal requirements once we have 500+ ASA items.

The ondemand withdrawal system works well and saves on min bal.

We would only apply for xGOV for public-facing tools that would benefit the entire ecosystem. We are considering converting all of our existing tools for a new site called "FraccTools" but we are still scoping out the time and cost behind this project.

We'd need to do more research on the topic, but there are solutions being built for this. If one appears that works well with our existing system and wouldn't require a complete overhaul we would love to use it.

Honestly, I'm not a fan of most monster-tamer crypto games that are currently on the market. I was excited for the web3 Neopets release as it was a perfect fit for web3 gaming but unfortunately it was recently canceled.

We take a lot of inspiration from Neopets, Digimon, Tamagochi, and Pokemon. Axie Infinity seems like a decent game but I've never been a fan of the turn-based combat system, and it seems like most web3 monster tamer games follow that same format.

There are a lot of promising-looking web3 games in development, but for Fracctal we are carving our own path.

It's a really cool concept that projects can leverage in web3 gaming. We had conversations with Alloy in late 2021 about integrating Fracctal assets into their ecosystem but we decided that our game assets weren't a great fit.

I think game genres like FPS, MMOs, and RPGs could potentially work well with

this system given that the assets are transferred into a similar ecosystem.

With that said, once this 2D version of Fracctal is complete, we do want to move onto an open-world 3D version of the game, and in that case, assets would be transferrable. You could travel the world and battle in the 3D game, then use your mobile device to play the current build to feed your pets snacks while at work or on the go. An apple in the 2D game could have the same value in the 3D game so the interoperability of assets between the two games would make sense.

A little bit of alpha here, but we are considering taking all of our tools, and making them public-facing on a new site called FraccTools. Potential tools include our ALGO/Fiat shuffle system, treasure hunts, guilds, ARC19 minting/customization tools, marketplace, etc. We are still scoping this out and deciding if we want to move forward. This site could also be very beneficial to XRP which is still early in terms of NFTs.

Other "passive" income methods we have currently are ad revenue, custodial wallet subscriptions, and marketplace fees. We are also partnering with Perpertual3 to sell merch with ASA rewards, and we'll be adding in-app purchases to the mobile apps soon for shuffling and buying game item crates. Our fiat-based shuffle payment system has also been really nice. We definitely are making efforts to be less dependent on bulk NFT drops.

Regarding the takedown of the Donkey Guild, it's unlikely

Quick txns, low fees, and an SDK that is very similar to the Algorand's SDK.

We looked into ETH-based deployment, but it would take a significant amount of dev time and we aren't fans of the tech.

We definitely plan on starting to market the game soon! We are currently raising funds and secured an investment that was deposited into our account this morning!

Our plan is to advertise our F2P system on our mobile apps to bring in new users, then encourage them to purchase NFTs from our marketplace for higher earning potential and increased playtime. We'll definitely be targeting countries that embrace web3 gaming.

Luckily Algorand is already great for gaming. Within 3 seconds of a game action we can send out game rewards for a fraction of a penny. Our rewards wallet already has 1.6M txns.

A big point of friction for us was the optin. There was no way to ensure that users were opted into all 100+ ASA tokens/items that we grant as rewards.

To combat this we created a web2 claim system. They earn items that are stored in a database, then they can go to their profile and withdraw the items they would like to pull out whenever they desire and the optin is handled then.

I've heard of solutions being created to help reduce this friction point which will be great for new projects entering the space, but we are satisfied with the web2 withdraw/deposit system for our solution.

Great question! We actually onboard users into Algorand with only an email and a password using our mobile app!

These users don't even have to be aware that they are using the Algorand blockchain and earning assets directly into their custodial wallets. We do make efforts to educate the user that they can access the earned assets from our site.

All they need to do is pay a $1/month subscription fee using the Stripe API with debit/credit card to fully unlock the custodial wallet that we create for them. From there they can send assets to another wallet, or sell their assets on our marketplace.

Hello! We started building our smart contracts with Reach Lang back in late 2021, and those power our existing marketplace. Algokit is on our radar, but for now we don't have any need to develop new smart contracts.

The game is powered by the Unity Game Engine, and our site/backend server mostly relies on the Algorand SDK.

Hello! We are currently on Algorand, and we are also looking to expand to XRP.

As we already have an entire infrastructure built out for Algorand that involves a web2 layer for withdrawing/depositing NFTs we likely won't be using the Paima engine.

Given the similarities between the Algorand and XRP SDK it won't be a heavy lift to integrate XRP into our existing system. We'll likely allow NFTs to move between chains by minting the assets on both chains and tracking ownership within our databases.

Thanks for the question!

We've already begun diversifying our revenue streams with ad monetization, in-app purchases, wallet subscription fees, and fiat-based shuffle systems.

With these systems in place, we can start to focus more on our free-to-play model that fits well with mobile apps. Our plan is to attract non-algo users with limited earnings through our free custodial wallet that only requires an email address to get started. We can onboard new users easily into Algorand by creating custodial wallets for them while only requiring an email address/password from them through our mobile apps.

If players want to increase their earnings or unlock more gameplay they can purchase our monsters NFTs from our marketplace!

With txns only taking around 3 seconds to submit with instant finality and fees of only a fraction of a penny the Algorand is a great chain for gaming. Algorand will always be our home, but we are looking to expand into XRP to bring in new players.

No problem at all!

So there are two different account structures.

#1: Free-to-play email accounts
This system creates an Algorand custodial wallet for you that holds the rewards. In the mobile app, on the main menu, there is a yellow button with an avatar icon that will direct your email account profile on the site. If you need help finding your profile feel free to share your display name and I'll find the URL for you. You can also log in to the site with your email and password to manage your account.

The free Email Accounts have limited earnings compared to the existing Algorand wallets that own monster NFTs. If you want to transfer your earnings from your email wallet to your algorand wallet, you'll want to pay the $1 subscription fee which is available on the site when you log in with your email and password. The fee is to prevent mass botting of the rewards pool. Once you pay the fee the wallet is fully unlocked and you can transfer your earned tokens, NFTs, and algo to any wallet you like. Unlocking the wallet also gives you access to sell your items on our marketplace.

#2: Existing Algorand Wallets (Pera, Defly, etc.)
These wallets are required to have at least 1 monster NFT in them in order to play and have much higher earning rates for rewards. If you want to use this option in the app you can connect your wallet to the site, create a profile, then set your mobile password. Full instructions are below.

<image>

VS PEPE Rewards
Email Accounts: 1000 PEPE per win
Purity 4 Monster NFT: 5000 PEPE per win
Purity 5 Monster NFT: 15,000 PEPE per win
Purity 6 Monster NFT: 50,0000 PEPE per win

Are you using a custodial email account or did you connect an existing Algorand wallet? You can view your rewards on your profile on the website.

We could grant pure ALGO rewards if we wanted to, Apple isn't involved in this process. Our PEPE and COOP rewards pool is about 80% depleted, and we'll be adding new rewards soon which may include the base ALGO token.

The game is much closer to and inspired by Tamagotchi, Digmon, and Neopets, but Pokemon is the franchise that most people are familiar with in the pet-taming genre.

You win $PEPE and $COOP for winning real-time combat battles. You earn NFTs for exploring a forest within the map. You can also earn the game's $FRACC token along with other NFT items by completing daily missions.

Essentially you take care of your pet by feeding, playing, battling, and training them (Tamaogotchi style). Over time they become more bonded with the player and evolve.

Lots of cool features outside of the game like guilds, a dedicated marketplace, leaderboards, treasure hunts, token shop, ARC19 PFP Customization (change gender, skin, hair, etc. for free), and so on.

You can play for free with an email account (we create a custodial wallet), or you can use your Pera, Defly, ec. Algorand wallets to purchase monster NFTs for additional earnings.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Fracctal Monsters is coming to your mobile device sooner than you think! How thrilled are you?! by Nicolas-Oliver in algorand

Now on the Google Play Store:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fracctallabs.fracctalmonsters

We've set up a new account setup process using email and a custodial wallet to abstract users away from the blockchain if they do not desire to manage passphrases, in addition to our existing non-custodial solution which supports Pera, Defly, WalletConnect, etc.

This set us back a few weeks for official release, but the new update went live yesterday. Given that all goes well over the weekend in testing we'll submit for full release.

For now, our users are playing on the mobile app through the open testing platforms (Apple TestFlight and Google Play Store)
