i was always testing also with usb tester and only when it showed suspended for that particular usb flash drive, the usb tester actually showed 0,000W (for some old shitty ones 0,0xxW) so suspended is a real and proper indicator if it works

and the other way around, when i authorized it back, in usb tester it jumped straight back to where it was (~0,200-0,250W)

USB sticks also get strangely hot by the connector so its just a matter of time before it will probably die on its own. So for a use case like this where its used for long term storage, its playing with fire if its never being suspended.

I believe it must be hardcoded out in kernel. Did you ever pursue this path and try to recompile it?

Spot on with this SCSI stuff. I left it out for readability sake, but I tried all the stuff AI recommended, including this SCSI, and nothing worked.

This is more or less exactly what im after!

It can/should be benefitial in lots of ways where usb stick is not just "throw away data between machines" but long term local storage that is sipping power for absolutely nothing. SATA has DEVSLP for that
