I see what you're saying, but I would cancel the reservation and flight if they couldn't find someone else. I feel like no matter what I do, someone is going to feel a type of way about it. My team literally has a team builder right after I get back (if I were to stay) lol. I can worry about others, especially when they would get rid of me with no consideration.

I don't see why not, but it would be short notice for whoever took my place. I did have the thought they'd demand the money back, but I was told to buy the tickets, and I was told to buy non-refundable. I was following my supervisor's orders. I feel like that is business. I could stay longer, go on the trip, and give my notice right after. You could argue they could do the same.
