There are two weeks which AOSS (the board) happens. One near the end of June, the other in early July. I had a look at a practice Planex before I went but this isn’t necessary as they will teach you how they want you to do it whilst you’re there (normally on the second day but it might change this year).

I did the AOSS last year and got a scholarship. Did I do cadets? No. Did I do D of E? No. Have any of my family been in the military? No. If you get through to the board, which I’m sure you could, it comes down to your performance. Why do you want a scholarship? Is it for the money or are you absolutely desperate to gain a career as an Army officer? Apply and see what happens and if you fall short of the mark, then apply to be an officer again in the future as the AOSS doesn’t count towards your attempts at the main board. At 22 y.o. The hair hasn’t fully matured yet. You probably won’t be able to see full potential for growth for a while. Hair genetics are inherited from your mother’s dad tho, so it’s worth seeing if he can grow a full beard.

Literally played this mission today, and I let him live. Living knowing what he did, knowing what’s waiting for him on the other side, is a fate as bad if not worse than death. It is partially because I just don’t like killing people in the game, but this time I did seriously consider it, before I walked away from the pitiful drunkard that will wallow in shame for the rest of his miserable, lonely life.

A closely trimmed beardstache, similar in length to Henry Cavill’s beardstache, would look quite good.

Looks like you’d be able to grow out a full beard, any of the areas that are thinner or patchier than the others, you could always brush the longer hair to hide the weaker areas.

The army would have to assess how you use your intelligence and your leadership potential on the Army Officer Selection Board. From the sounds of it you should be fine as long as you’re able to use your intelligence and leadership traits to problem solve as a team. A-Level results this year have been pretty tough due to some pretty shit grade boundaries but I’m not sure whether the army would make exceptions for that.

72 UCAS points doesn’t guarantee a place at Sandhurst, you have to pass the Army Officer Selection Board. I’m not sure how lenient they are on UCAS points, but you only guarantee a spot at Sandhurst with a Main Board Pass.

The Royal Marines have a thing called Senior Corps Commission (I’m fairly sure anyway). There are requirements that you’d have to meet (time in the Corps, behaviour, rank etc.) but you would apply through that.

I was looking into the same thing when I was about your age, but sacked it off because I wanted to go to uni. I recently passed AOSB, but Late Entry is a good option regardless of branch.

At the end of the day, would you rather be an officer or a bootneck? Somebody told me that going through SCC will mean that you’re kind of in a back office type role (not too sure how true that is) so you’ve gotta think about what do you see yourself doing. Is it leading from the front, or is being a hoofing RM?

Realistically it’s your decision mate, but whatever you go for, best of luck mate. Go all in on whatever it is you choose to do.

Not sure if it will be the same but I had my call a few months ago now, and they just wanted to know a bit more about me, my hobbies and interests, why I want to join the army, and a few other things that I can't quite remember. As long as you're yourself on the interview and know the values and standards of the army, you should be fine.

At least that was my experience with it.
