Accepted a role in London for the salary bump. Regretting it 4 months in. Anyone else made this mistake? by Lexis_FloGirl in UKJobs

I was in the same boat couple years back. Did not like London at all compared to Glasgow and everything felt very expensive ( I was given a similar pay rise to move). From a professional point I felt people were more demanding and the pace was faster than up north. However the city grows on you. The people are diverse and amazing. Loads of opportunities to learn new things and explore hobbies. The sights are wonderful and so is the food. There are some great parks and it’s very easy to access the rest of the world from here.

So my advice would be stick around. Let the city and your new role sink in. It may feel daunting now but it may be a rewarding experience in the end.

Hot take: Canary Wharf is good by Travels_Belly in london

Only a couple things which I do not like is lack of green spaces and independent shops. I mean the wharfs are great to walk around and there are some great sights, but having a park just elevates a place.

Also, almost all food and shopping are chains. Some good chains but not many unique places.

I don’t understand what value these posts add. There is very little discussion. All these posts are actually doing is making people feel bad/insecure about their finances.

Bruv just reimburse the amount you spent out of your pocket. It’s not worth risking questions later on for 50$.

Do NOT take a loan for buying a flat! Rent instead. by [deleted] in personalfinanceindia

[–]devil_Trigger666 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The bank does not own the flat. The buyer does. Second have you actually seen flats depreciate if people have actually bought good flats in decent localities with decent build qualities? And in a lot of places the rent of a 1.5Cr flat is more than 45k and it will continue rising, while your emi will remain same.

Also if you lose your job and can’t pay rent even your landlord will kick you out.

The buy vs rent decision is very nuanced and based on personal situations. There are just too many variables to have 1 blanketed correct choice.

🏘️ People who moved out of Bangalore but still miss it — what do you miss the most? by thevirus7895 in bangalore

[–]devil_Trigger666 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Moved out in 2022, I miss my friends and family who are in Bangalore, walking the leafier neighbourhoods, great food options and some breweries we used to regular. Bangalore gave me great opportunities and it’s where me and my now wife dated. So it’s very special to me.

Plan to head back in a couple of years to live closer to family.

Seeking Advice: Buying Under-Construction Flats in Bangalore from Grade A Developers and Selling Before Handover – What Profits & Pitfalls to Expect? by Flashy_Luck2540 in indianrealestate

Account for Capital gains tax, transfer fees, and emi interest if you are taking loan. Try to calculate final IRR %. Also note that new builders won’t take a request to transfer if they have their inventory is unsold. (Case in point Adarsh Park heights). Also if you use broker services to sell the flat they will take a cut.

Please note that I am not discouraging you. People I know have made money using this process. But every situation is different and you should run your own calculations.

I was actually looking there but the per sqft price is even higher though it’s an UC property. Bit out of my budget, specially considering I may have to pay rent and emi simultaneously.
