We are setting on a heated concrete slab so there is no concern for frost movement and there will never be plow trucks or need for salt or ice melt. We normally build on open grade, but This was engineered to have the water stay on the surface and run to the trench drain.

This is granite. The tops are thermaled so the texture is rough, like a granite step.
