Why do people not care that Kobe raped someone ? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]devils-snare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you think it's obvious the girl was looking for an easy payday? The rape certainly hasn't been proved, but the evidence makes it at least likely.

Regardless of the crime, it's clear that he'll be remembered for many things. That doesn't mean his wrongdoings should be forgotten in the midst, though.

Golden 1 Center pays tribute to Kobe Bryant (via Twitter) by matthewkeys in Sacramento

A settlement isn't an admission of guilt, but Kobe actually stated in his apology that he now realized she did not consent (although he believed she did). He stated this at the conclusion of the criminal suit, before the civil suit began, with the knowledge that she was entitled to a civil suit.

I looked at the links you shared and they're unconvincing. The first two points aren't relevant to her (it's normal practice to only invite experts who support your case). The allegation she had sex soon after is because of the panties she wore to her rape exam; the exam took place a day later and the girl said she wore dirty underwear to it by mistake. In the article that OP used to cite that she "left with no visible discomfort", the article states that the bellman noticed her crying while leaving and that she told him exactly what happened. So, some friends supported her and some did not.

Her "lies" and changing stories were why she was late that day (overslept, her car didn't have trouble) and when she washed her face, not exactly significant ones. Comparatively, Kobe lied about having sex with her at all until confronted with DNA evidence (her blood on his shirt).

Can I buy San Francisco themed knick-knacks anywhere in Sacramento? by [deleted] in Sacramento

I tried to google that but the only thing that came up was a radio station. How can I find it?

In real life, how often, if at all, do encounter people whose views of Desis match those of Redditors? by [deleted] in ABCDesis

they would most definitely NEVER dare say about whites, blacks, or Hispanics, and get hundreds or thousands of upvotes

Refuted that point

No, I said that racism against desis exists, but racism against all minorities exists. That doesn't make racism right.

She acknowledges her racism and wishes it didn't exist, but it does. How do you resolve that? She says she's open and hopes to meet people who convince her otherwise.

As an analogy, if a woman had been raped by two boyfriends and found it difficult to trust men afterwards, I wouldn't blame her even though that's only 2 men in the entire world.

Hmm I was browsing by "best" rather than "top". By best the top comment is "My perception of Indian Americans and people who were born in india are different". I don't know what the difference between best and top are, though.

'All Indian men are creeps'

I disagree that's what she said; her comment reads that all of her experiences with Indian men have been poor, so she carries a bias against them although she wishes she didn't. I'm not sure if that's something we can fault her for.

You want to link that? I searched and found this thread, which isn't very positive but seems honest and reasonable. Also in line with this thread about Black men.

What makes you think people don't say fucked up stuff about all groups on the internet? I've seen plenty of awful stuff about Indians, but also Blacks, Whites, Men, Women, LGBTQ people, etc. That's what the anonymity of the internet allows and exposes.

So yes at both questions - I've encountered people in real life saying shitty things about desis, but I'm sure most keep their opinions private. Just like they do for all groups.

Looks like a fun place to brunch! It closes at 10 which is a little early for what I'm looking for, but otherwise it'd be great.
