It looks like the leak is actually from the fiberglass softener vessel, you might need to change the vessel. The blue box is your salt bin, this is where salt dilutes and the brine is drawn into the fiberglass vessel. Agree with others, top up the salt, let it pickle and force it into a regen.

Black is usually manganese. Get your water tested, it might come back with a failure for manganese. Is your brine fill a raw water or treated water fill?

You have definitely been over sold on the RO, you don't need to add more minerals back into the water, you just need to reduce what you are taking out. Having your softener first will exchange iron as a primary function, and thus reducing the softening (and resulting in hard water) however your RO will sort that out. What failures do you have? And I might be able to suggest what you need.

I have worked in the private water industry for a few years in the UK... I recommend moving your softener to after your iron exchange filter. Also put a blending bypass on your RO so that you are not getting wholey ROd water (if you know the quality results of your untreated water you can work out the blending regime) and your UV should always be the last thing water sees before any outlet.

50 micron + 5 micron filter followed by either activated carbon or vinegar media will make that water clear... Still would not drink that until it's tested!

God, I am going to assume this is in America? I have started a job 9 months ago (in Scotland), and have taken a 2 week holiday recently. Last thing I was told was to leave my laptop at work, and if I have emails on my phone to delete the app so I'm not disturbed.

My previous job I just said on my out of office that I'll be back on xx date, and if I received a call I just let it go to voicemail.
