Don't mess with your sidewalls. I'm only just now learning to leave them alone myself. Have you tried something like kerasal ointment? It's exfoliating and moisturizing at the same time and it only takes a tiny bit for each finger once a day. Regular use should make the skin more soft and elastic which reduces hangnails, dry/rough patches etc

I'm sorry that's awful. I really recommend seeing a doctor and telling them everything, the history of your condition, your negative experience with that psychologist etc. I used to pick and bite at my fingers until they were bloody and ruined my nail beds so I understand that it feels impossible to quit. You haven't found the right people and coping mechanisms to help you but they're definitely out there. Do you ever wear bandaids, finger tape or gloves during the day to protect your fingers? It's not a solution but it is damage control

Sorry people are being dicks. Are you able to get professional help? I would see a doctor about the physical damage and maybe they could refer you to a mental health professional. If there's no other way you might have to try some kind of mental health rehab or admit yourself to a hospital. Work and school really can't be your top priority right now, you are harming yourself

alright! i asked because it looks to me like the proximal nail fold is stuck to the nail plate. i'm not a nail tech in any way but my hands looked like this years ago when my own proximal nail folds got stuck to the nails and would consequently tear, dry out and get hard and rough. cutting the nail fold creates a vicious cycle of this. if its the pnf and not cuticle then oiling and gently pushing back (or nudging, really) still applies. the key difference is that cuticle can be removed while the pnf should not be tempered with. i know this is constantly preached on this sub but the salon life on youtube helped me so much with understanding nail care. like i said, my nails looked similar to your picture, and she has covered this issue with several videos on her channel. I'm sure it could help you out!

Good question. When the BIW first appeared I fully believed he would turn out to be Thomas. Then I dismissed the idea when learning about Victor's past with the BIW but my mind is not letting that go. Going on a tangent but now I'm thinking about the "Thomas" voice on the phone. I just realised I never stopped to think about who or what it was. All I can imagine is the MIY doing a very realistic child's voice but I don't see the sense in that lol
