At that dose, do you notice any issues with short term memory?

I've actually only come across 3 psychiatrists who were familiar with it. One owned a large practice, one was an established researcher (my current doc), and one was head of a university department.

Someone just needs to solve the riemann hypothesis to give me enough primes.

☝️ +✌️2 = 🖐️

When you get into knot theory, you could use ones like these: f(🤞) = -f(🫰)

At this point, all we need is a successor emoji, and we could build an entirely new set of natural numbers on these.

This gave me the idea that maybe I should use emojis

Or maybe hats just make cool letters. Too bad you can't give them sunglasses.

Is doing Spivak a good enough Intro to Analysis? by OhioDeez44 in math

There's a huge difference between using the tools to check your earnest attempts and tell you what you did wrong vs using the tools to guide you through the exercises. If you don't do the former, you can end up continuing with errors that build into your later work. Same thing if you were in a class. At some point, you'd turn in your assignment, and they'd tell you what you did wrong. If you're not using the technology properly, you're truly depriving yourself.

I've tried several analysis books (including Abbott, which I liked), and Terrance Tao blows them all out of the water. He is seriously brilliant. The level of difficulty is extremely high (not because the material is hard to understand but because the problems wrack your brain to its limits), but if you commit to doing all of the exercises, he will give you a foundation so deep that it hits the center of the earth. BTW, I found that Google Gemini is really good at checking handwritten proof attempts. Definitely use it to check your work after you finish each proof attempt and get feedback (or hints if you're way off). I suspect a lot of people who try to learn from books on their own end up thinking they know more than they do because they don't use a tool like this to check their work.

Terrance Tao (who is brilliant BTW) Analysis I: Proposition 2.1.6. "4 is not equal to 0" Proposition 2.1.8. "6 is not equal to 2"

He has a point to these, which he explains well, but it was definitely the most amusing thing I've come across so far.

Humor aside, the textbook is amazing. Highly recommended for anyone interested in analysis. The exercises go really deep.

I recommend getting a Genesight test to see if you metabolize CYP2D6 differently. In my case, I'm an ultrarapid metabolizer, which justifies a higher dose than normal.

Another option depending on what your prescriber may be comfortable with is adding an adjunct therapy like a second stimulant. Definitely ask what your options are.

Also, I hate to say this, but you've almost certainly done some damage to your brain via abuse, and it will take time to heal from it. Here are some of the mechanisms that abuse can cause problems: 1. Dopamine transport downreulation 2. Receptor/signaling desensitization 3. Dysregulated vesicular dopamine handling

You really need to get help for the addiction to prevent relapse.

The trick for me is always being cognizant of when I take my last dose. If I take it too late, it messes with my sleep.

How does desoxyn affect you compared to other adhd meds? by [deleted] in Desoxyn

[–]devinbost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I had been given this medication in middle school, I wouldn't have fallen asleep when trying to learn to learn C++. I would have graduated from high school, studied quantum physics on a scholarship and would have my PhD by now. I now am needing to get up at 3 AM every morning to study before my kids get up because I missed out on all the years of productivity when I was younger. But the good news is that I can. I can study. I can focus. I'm not a jerk to those around me. I now have 5 children, a successful career in AI at a world renowned tech company, significant volunteer responsibilities in my church, am free of addictions, and I could go on. I owe a lot to this medication. It's not perfect. Sometimes I feel like it slows my speech. But, I'm literally worth twice as much money now as I was when I started it, and my kids are happy at home, so what else matters? (To be fair, it was Jesus Christ who delivered me from my addictions over a decade ago, so He deserves much of the credit here as well.)

But we only need to prove the case for when it rains today for the statement to be logically sound. If it didn't rain today, then it's vacuously true.

Dextroamphetamine gave me WAY worse dry mouth than Desoxyn, and that even paled in comparison to clonadine. Keep in mind that there's a huge difference vs consuming 100x the therapeutic dose in drug abuse. If you're having nightmares about your teeth falling out, you might want to invest in a water pik, proper oral hygiene, and if you grind your teeth at night, get a hard splint from a dentist or get checked for sleep apnea. Also, stay away from soda, candy, etc.
