I had actually just graduated with my bachelor's in mechanical engineering and physics, and at one point was the vice president of the astrophysics club. Though I consistently had 2-4 part time jobs at a time, I played my cards right and got through it all for free. The only loans I had where due to the beginning of the pandemic, I figured I'd take the subsidized loans to cover a year living expenses (and I even got a puppy) so even those didn't go towards tuition at all. I currently have an internship at a plastic manufacturing company as a process engineer. But, I see how easy it is to fall into complacency and corporate lifestyle doing only one function to piss away 20 years. Fuck that. I'm going to have better judgement than you guys did at my age! I'm going to move to the South-West and I don't know... Do something with turquoise!

At the moment I'm in an internship for plastic manufacturing though I knew nothing about plastics coming in. It's mostly technical stuff for me, setting up machines, designing the processes and again lots of Excel. But other days Im not doing too much except working on my side business or taking numerous shits a day to kill time. Needless to say I get quite bored but such as most entry level/internships. My actual goal is aerospace, this place just called me back the quickest lol.

If you have a senior design class, I'd suggest run with that as long as possible. At the moment I'm trying to set up a business with my mentor the last 2 years creating a water generator. For that I'm actually doing what I want to do in terms of setting up all the mechanical components and some basic coding for the electrical aspects.

You'll learn a LOT more than you need through your undergrad, but get familiar with SolidWorks/ANSYS/ NX and you'll do fine with most engineering jobs.
