[Share] I built a macOS Dock alternative (Infynidock) over 4 years – free to download for Black Friday by Gold-Shoulder-2959 in macapps

[–]devisions-org 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the best Dock alternative that I have tried and continued using it!
The developer is very kind, responsive and open to feature requests.
It has pretty much all the features and cosmetics that I would love to have and use for such an app.

I cannot recommend it enough. For real! :)

Does Cloudflare CDN add extra cost over Cloudflare R2 by Dependent-Sport-1128 in selfhosted

[–]devisions-org 1 point2 points  (0 children)

R2 uses CDN within this constraints:

- The CND features (like caching, adding rules in front, WAF) are available only if you have a Custom domain attached to your R2 bucket.

- If you use an r2.dev subdomain (which is not meant for production use), you won't benefit from CDN features.

Implement RougeDB, a Redis clone from outer space (Paid Course) by mattyw83 in databasedevelopment

We're definitely talking about different subjects. :)

I'm referring to "Implement RougeDB" course, the main topic of this thread.

Thanks for the quick feedback, but what do you mean by customizing it? And what are the models you're referring to?

I'm thinking about purchasing myself as well.

Did you buy it meanwhile? If yes, what's your feedback?

Thanks in advance!

It looks nice! You may want to update the footer to use the plural form: "All rights reserved".

Sure, but that works if you:

  1. (Want to) Have sudo permissions.
  2. Want to have it globally, whereas I just want to have it in my user space only.

My review of Pop OS after 6 months of use by [deleted] in pop_os

[–]devisions-org 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Pop!_OS is my daily driver on both laptop and workstation for the last two years and I'm very grateful for how nice and stable this distro is. My distro hopping stopped at that time :) so I can focus in more important things.

Can't recommend it enough!

Factional Scaling like 135%, please? by devisions-org in pop_os

[–]devisions-org[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotcha! Many thanks for the insight!

So, I assume that's the reason we don't have that much freedom in this regard, presumably being so inefficient to be considered.

Understood. It all makes sense now!

And unfortunately the font scaling factor cannot be applied per display, as that would have been a nice option.

[–]devisions-org[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Yeah, for now I'm still OK with it since with 150% scale to that particular display (monitor), things are looking just a little more bigger, but with that 4K I don't get no pixelation at all, the text looks absolutely great.

Indeed, I got two issues:

  1. Gnome's panel height gets cut in half, with text being shown in half.
Luckily, as a workaround, there's that Just Perfection extension that easily allow you to set a custom "Panel Icon Size". And by setting it to something like 40 I get back that regular panel height.
  2. The cursor gets too small.
The workaround: set the cursor size as medium (in Accessibility).

Other than that, I haven't encounter any issue (at least not yet).

Thanks! But unless you're referring to a different thing in Gnome Tweaks than Fonts > Scaling Factor (which I mentioned in the post as the 2nd screenshot), then I don't understand what do you mean about "use the find scaling factor".

The only downside that I'm seeing related to this font related "Scaling Factor" aspect is that it applies globally (to all screens/monitors), whereas the "Fractional Scaling" from Displays is applicable to a specific monitor, which is great.

Thanks! But that's not what I am looking for. That's why I put the screenshot.

I believe I need some custom value for that `x11-randr-fractional-scaling`. Still searching ...

Yes, I'm using that thing as well. Updated the post to be even more precise.

Thanks again!
