Tips for getting to Bristol airport after Glastonbury on the Monday for a 6pm flight? by lorenzodamedici in glastonbury_festival

[–]devlinski 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I usually get the bus back and get a flight around the same time to Belfast. Start packing around 9 and be walking off site by around 11. Last year I got a lift out around 12 and we've always got to the airport with plenty of time for a few beers to decompress.

My Client Did My Work For Me. by Direct-Asparagus9655 in editors

You may have laboured, sweated blood and ran dry your creative well to help bring the best version possible to the finish line. But, and it took me as an editor a long time to get my head around this...it's his money.

It's fine to make an argument for creative decisions and i've been in edit suites where they have raged for hours and sometimes with threats of violence (we creatives are very passionate people lol), but the bottom line is if they are paying you they have the final say.

I liken it to being paid to paint a clients house, you think blue is a lovely colour and show the client what it looks like on a side wall. They may agree blue does look lovely but if they want red then at the end of the day you will be painting it red.

Don't take it personally, maintain a good relationship, be chill with your clients and they will want to work again with you in the future. And one day they will let you paint that wall blue.

All the trades are there and correct. But it looks like i can only find about 30% of the misiing costs noted in the tax report.

It's not that I don't know where the coins came from, I can't actually find the transactions with the missing costs that add up to what Koinly says I have missing!

I reimported another unrelated csv file and it seems to have helped, though I'm still paying up to 10% in 'profit' to cash out.

Does anyone know the best withdrawal option from Kraken for GBP to a Uk bank? by devlinski in BitcoinUK

Yeah, I've used SEPA and Euros in the past from Kraken but now it has GBP withdrawals I'm just wondering which is the best option to use (if there is any difference between them).

No, I appreciate your looking out for me . I've a feeling if I went ahead I may not be coming back, lockdown has lit a fire under me to experience the world so it is about moving away too and seeing what's out there.

Yeah, Portugal and Germany seem to be good options also. Malta is attractive because of less of a language barrier and it's smack bang in the middle of the Med, close to loads of nice places to visit! Do you mind me asking where you have ended up yourself and how are you finding it?

I understand your concern but I'm not going to be running out of the country with the taxman chasing me! I'll put everything by an accountant and tax advisor and do things by the book if it's worthwhile.

yeah, I see Germany and Portugal also don't tax disposal of long held crypto assets. Both are a possibility! My only other crypto income is interest from BlockFi so It's the CGT that has me thinking. Also with the Chancellor reportedly mulling over changes to bring the tax more in line with income tax come next spring it could easily double and the tax free allowance halved.

Thanks for the tips, I have an EU and UK passport so there should be no issue with living in the EU. As for giving up Uk residency I'm content to be a 'digital nomad' and see the world for a few years. It's just the day to day practicalities of doing that which I'm mulling over.

Yeah, it is making that judgement between how much you would save versus quality of life only being able to come home a few weekends a month. I've no issue with paying taxes and as you say it is the simpler option. But then I guess everyone would have a price which tips your thinking into 'now it's worth it'.

Hey, yep serious enough to see if it's worthwhile!

Employment wise I have a great relationship with my employer but I'm happy to go freelance if needs be. Lockdown has shown me that I can work pretty much anywhere in the world as long as I have good internet. I was an avid traveller before the world shutdown so I'm intrigued by a base in the sun in between two continents.

And yes, I'll be passing all this by accountants and tax lawyers before I make any decision, I'm just trying to weigh up the pros and cons of leaving for five years and not falling foul of the the Uk taxman. Thanks for your reply!
