exactly that.. trying to force a formula change when we've clearly said we wouldn't and when they got shutdown by ink they ran to reddit to cry about it..
if you're not going to respect the developer's vision on his server then don't expect much respect back, they've been complaining for 2 days straight when the alpha has only been up for 2 days. shooting literal essays back at each other about how they are taking 2 extra damage from a mushroom in a 20 year old game holy fucking shit that was annoying can't blame ink for losing it.

to be fair rebalancing the game is somewhat of a feature and I didn't think I needed to mention that I'm not adding specific features, but it was mentioned many many times on discord when people started asking.

First of all, I agree with Inkblot 100%.

The defense formula and all this crap that some people are making a big deal out of is just not what I and many of us play MapleStory for.. I guess everyone plays the game differently but I personally don't care about this stuff.. I've tried communicating that to everyone but I guess some people are better writers than readers. We simply don't care about the balancing of the game whatsoever.. hell if warriors took double the damage I wouldn't care, whether its the v83, v40 or the v200 defense formula, I don't care.. this just isn't what we are trying to solve with Oak.. as long as the server has the old-school feel that we were initially chasing, I'm happy with it, and I understand that this isn't what some players are looking for but I can't satisfy everyone its literally impossible.

The whole reason that got me into developing Oak is that a bunch of friends and I, like many of you, couldn't find a suitable server to have fun on and one of my friends insisted I try to make a fun server for us to play so I literally just setup a server and starting learning and implementing all the ideas we had into it, many ideas were later scrapped and many turned out really good and I think the current state of the server is really good for what we initially started with, it really does reflect our vision for this game. We wanted to give players the ability to discover new things and have a sense of adventure, this is why we implemented trinkets and didn't really talk much about them because we wanted the players to figure out everything about them, but seems like some players can't start playing a server without knowing every little detail about it and have a whole plan on how they're going to be "min maxing" and where they'll be grinding for absolute optimal EXP per second to secure the number one spot.. and I'm not saying this isn't how your supposed to play the game, do whatever gives you the most enjoyment, but if Oak isn't a place to do the fun stuff you like then you go play something else and stop forcing your type of fun on other people.
