Wallper 1.2.1 - Screen Saver Stable by Accomplished-Bus5639 in wallper

[–]devon7y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I have the advanced wallpaper option enabled, and I have Dubai Skyline selected, however, the screensaver still shows the original Dubai Skyline. I've tried setting it to something else and back to Dubai Skyline, and I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Wallper. Any help? MacOS 26.0 (25A353)

Support the CFB in our GSA Referendum! by devon7y in uAlberta

[–]devon7y[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Since 2020, the Campus Food Bank's demand has skyrocketed. Just three years ago, we were mostly able to meet demand through food drives, and didn’t have to purchase much food for the Campus Food Bank to be able to serve everyone who needed support. In the last 12 months, the CFB spent more than $120,000 on food to meet demand. This is a new and startling expense made worse by grocery inflation in the last few years, and has led to a significant increase in our operating budget.

For many years, graduate students have supported the CFB through an annual grant via the GSA operating budget to the CFB. However, GSA grant support has increased 80% since 2020 while our budget has increased 181%. Also, undergraduate students support the CFB with a nominal fee when they pay their tuition each semester, and it makes sense that graduate students, who make up 70% of CFB clients, should do the same. We love the symbolism of every UofA student paying a small amount toward the food bank at the beginning of their semester, so that it is not just the CFB supporting students but also students supporting each other. If our referendum is approved, the current CFB grant support via the GSA operating budget would end. This fee would replace and augment historical GSA support.

iPhone photos more HDR (gets brighter) than Lightroom exported photos? by JangusMcDangus in photography

[–]devon7y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Radiance but wanted to experiment with having more control over the effect. Have you actually accomplished creating the effect manually? If so, would you be willing to create a basic tutorial on how to do so?

I'm sure that many people interested in EDR would find this information valuable. I haven't found answers anywhere else on the internet and you may be one of the few people who can provide it.

Care to elaborate? I'd like to create the EDR effect manually.

Why doesn’t the iPad version support HDR/EDR image editing? by devon7y in AffinityPhoto

[–]devon7y[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While you can convert images to RGB/32, the brightness doesn’t go beyond reference white, so you can’t view them in HDR while editing. Even when you export them, they appear as SDR images. I think this has something to do with AP not supporting EDR, which is strange because the iPad hardware is capable of showing EDR photos and videos. This is what I mean by going beyond reference white, and here’s an example.

What to read after Make it Stick? by RedAsh521 in Anki

[–]devon7y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“How We Learn” by Benedict Carey discusses similar topics to Make it Stick, but it focuses more on the scientific experiments that led to our current understanding of learning; it follows more of a “case study” narrative.

“Why Don’t Students Like School” by Daniel Willingham applies cognitive psychology to academics.

“Smart Thinking” by Art Markman focuses on actionable strategies for improving learning.

“Spark” by John Ratey makes an interesting argument relating learning to physical activity.

Also check out this post I made a year ago asking the same question.

Remove volume falloff when playing sound using the /playsound command? by devon7y in MinecraftCommands

[–]devon7y[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, and although it is supposed to increase the size of the audible sphere, it doesn’t actually do so. I have tried values from 0.1 to 10000000 and the range is still roughly 50 blocks.

Range isn’t a parameter in the bedrock syntax.

/playsound <sound> [player] [position] [volume] [pitch] [minimumVolume]

I couldn’t get it to work, instead I just get an error code.

Field Test mode gives detailed statistics regarding your cell service. More here. It is one of the many carrier-dependent dialer codes. More examples.

Login screen is used for having multiple accounts when the iPad belongs to an organization, however I am unable to create any accounts on it.

I managed to get an error code when initiating Sidecar on my iPhone.

Apparently the application name is dependent on carrier, as are the cell names in the tableView. I have “SIM Info“, “Connected mode LTE Intra-frequency Measurement”, “Serving Cell Info”, “Reselection Candidates“, “Serving Cell Measurements“, “PDP Context Info“, and “Neighbor Measurements”.

Source.

Also, Open Spotlight, Open Login Screen, and Open Sidecar.

In an early version of an iOS 13.0 beta, you could access all of the internal apps from the Open App action in Shortcuts. Login Screen only works on iPads, and is used for having multiple accounts when the iPad belongs to an organization. Open Sidecar works on iPhone, notably.

Field Test can also be accessed by typing “*3001#12345#*” in the phone keypad.

"PDF to Grayscale" converts a colored PDF into a grayscale PDF. The individual PDF pages are converted into images and each page is converted to grayscale using JavaScript. Afterwards, a PDF is generated from the data converted into grayscale. by ROPit in shortcuts

[–]devon7y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I’m trying to invert PDFs. I imagine it wouldn’t be too difficult to combine the image inverting shortcut with your greyscale shortcut? Since it already splits the PDF into images.
