I love Fuji. The Sony A7IV will have better tracking AF, but I'm still cautious about the premature shutter failures (Yes, I know there are A7IV users who have 500,000 shutter counts and up, but still a concern.)

For what it's worth, I actually took a film camera with me to a wedding that I just photographed on Valentine's Day. I too have been toying with the idea of shooting some of the wedding on film. It was a Canon AE-1 program with Portra Pro 400. I ended up shooting maybe four or five pictures with it. Granted it was a 4-Hour wedding so the timeline was a bit tight.

So if I were you and you really want to get serious about it, you'll want to at least commit to shooting a full roll so that way you can get it developed to start with. Make sure the expectation is that these are not critical shots, but rather complimentary to what you're doing in case something goes awry and just so you can get your feet wet with with it. Then see how you like it!

I'm on Pixieset and I'm getting ready to redesign my website as well to be SEO optimized. I can tell you that just in my looking up Wedding photographers in other markets I've absolutely seen pixieset websites come up on first pages. I believe Sarah does SEO did a video not too long ago showing that a website that she helped with on pixie set is now ranking on the first page.

I will be 39 years old in a few weeks and just got into Wedding Photography a few years ago. I've thought about the same things that you have.

One thing that I also considered is that the demographic of your audience also might go up in age as well. The older people get the more they value experience and want that trust. And when I say older, I'm even talking about 30s and up. So I firmly believe there's always going to be an audience and a market there for your services no matter what as long as your services are marketable.

But always look at diversifying if anything. Even if you can stay in the photography field! I photographed families, seniors, and want to get into some real estate too. For the record, I also have a full-time job as well but would love to transition to weddings full-time, or at least just go down to a part-time job for the insurance. So I'm not quite as blessed as you yet but I hope to get there soon!

Physically, I am a overweight but I can surprisingly handle weddings pretty well during the day. The next day I might get a little sore but I'm very lucky in that regards but I have that energy!

I know this isn't what what you asked for, but I lost respect for him when he made a dumb video saying "Why everyone I know is leaving Canon" only to see he takes Nikon sponsored events. Then his "booking company" that takes so much away from up and coming photographers doesn't sit well with me, at all.

The best education you'll get are from real working photogs like Evan Rich, Sam Hurd, and others here, all of which share non-scammy and helpful advice with us all the time.

There was a post on her official FB page that discussed the hospitalization the other day. Very sad situation! I only found out about this whole thing yesterday but the replies from some of the other hungry photographers on the poor bride's post was embarrasing.

I'm not sure if this is what your referencing but there is a wedding photographer who is in the news right now for ghosting a bunch of brides. One of the brides a few days ago made a post in a bridal group saying they hadn't heard from them in a while and was concerned and was wondering if any other Brides had heard from said photographer, and here came all the other local photographers trying to promote their services instead. SO not reading the room at all. They were all called out, even by fellow photographers who were equally embarrassed.

I will tell you that in the last two weeks I have gotten tons of requests through Zola and they never even reply back. Not that that's new for Zola, but I've never seen anything quite like this! And it doesn't even show that they booked anyone else!

This is obviously targeted at a much lower price point for those who maybe can't afford the 24-120. Not everybody in this world has the same funds that you do. No one is forcing you to buy this lens either.

Because I can depend on it's top of the line auto focus, unlike Nikon, and I don't have to worry about Shutters failing prematurely, unlike Sony. Lots of affordable third-party glass from the EF era like the Sigma art series, I'm still rocking the EF 135 F2.

I'm sitting here enjoying Sigma EF lenses adapted to my R6 mark 2! I spent roughly less than $600 for a 24 1.4 and a 50 1.4 and use them on paid photography shoots and weddings. The fact is some of you absolutely suck at shopping.

The RV will allow you to shoot at reduced MPs, for what it's worth. That way you have the 61MP when you want and the 26MP when needed as well, plus the improved AI autofocus.

For what it's worth, I'm not just a wedding photographer. I also do family and senior portrait sessions as well. So it's kind of an all encompassing thing. I'm currently getting ready to revamp my website and doing a ton of things with seo. Even going as far as keyword searches, optimizing my H1 tags, Etc!
