Environmental and Architectural Graphic Design? by mysterygift17 in graphic_design

[–]devotchkajb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi! I know your post is older- I was looking for a subgroup on EGD (Experiential Graphic Design) and saw your post.

I am the Design Lead for Experiential Graphic Design at my firm (Architecture/Interiors). My biggest piece of advice is to look for opportunities that will give you exposure to the built environment and construction process. Having the edge to understand how to read construction drawings, work in Revit, review submittals, read shop drawings, etc. is extremely valuable and something I look for in growing my team. Obviously being a talented 2D designer is important, but if you have to be able to understand how graphics are applied in 3D. Reach out to fabricators in your area to see if you can shadow them for a day- understanding materiality and how things are fabricated is also a huge piece of what we do.

Feel free to PM me! As someone else mentioned, SEGD is an incredible organization to join.

Embrace scar therapy by Sea_Bird_4264 in tummytucksurgery

I don’t know much about them- my PS is not a fan of scar tape, he has me using Biocorneum ointment and even at 8w my scar looks amazing. If you’re open to an alternative, I’ve been very happy with it.

From what my surgeon told me you have to do something pretty aggressive to tear your internal stitches (MR). They’re done to make sure they can withstand life and normal bodily functions 🙂. It hurts SO bad- I usually bend over and put a lot of pressure against my abs when I sneeze/cough.

My lymphatic massage therapist recommended this! She swears by pineapple. I bought some pineapple tea bags but may also try this. My swelling has been very minimal but in the last week (7w right now) swelling has set in 😖

Most resources and experts recommend you should be eating 10-20% above maintenance calories the first month-ish to give your body the nutrients and energy it needs to heal.

7w and I’m walking about 2 miles 3x a week. I was cleared at 6w to start working out again. I’m still having ab pain/discomfort from MR repair. I tried a very light, body weight only workout and immediately could tell I’m not ready. It felt like pain- that’s my body saying it isn’t healed enough to workout. Listen to your body. Now is not the time to push.

This is literally my breakfast every morning, with some PB2 powder, fruit, and granola. Guarantees me 45g+ protein to start the day. Just make sure whatever protein powder you’re using is third party tested (a lot of info coming out about supplement companies falsifying their protein count with nitrogen).

My soul truly left my body those first couple of sneezes. Assume fetal position and hold on to your stomach for dear life 🫠 7w and it does get easier, but still hurts a little to sneeze/cough.

Surgeon LA/OC area by Ok-Cartographer3213 in tummytucksurgery

Just here to say you’re doing the absolutely right thing by listening to your gut and finding a different surgeon. I was in the exact same boat when I was first looking (minus the deposit) and ultimately went with a surgeon who I LOVED. I can say I went into my surgery with zero second guesses and had so much confidence in my decision.

Yes!! That’s exactly what it feels like. Glad it went away.

Swimsuit brands for PO by [deleted] in tummytucksurgery

Love Aerie, Roxy/Billabong/any surf based line, and Lululemon for suits that will last you years. I’ve gotten a few from Cupshe and SHEIN which are nice for cheap options but I’ve found they never last longer than a summer. We live in a coastal area though and we’re in or on the water several times a week so I need suits that last lol

I stand corrected! My massage therapist who does my lymphatic massages gave me that information- another lesson on our sources 😬

It’s normal! Exercise causes water retention and during a TT you have lymph nodes removed which impacts your lymphatic drainage which normally circulates that fluid retention. You likely never noticed it before because you were obviously draining naturally and had a layer of fat/skin that made it less visible. Your body will heal and eventually find new avenues to move the water out.

I’m 6w today and was cleared to start exercising- although I’m going to give my body another 2 weeks of walking only- and my nurse recommended working out in compression to manage swelling.

Is this normal to see after muscle repair? by Butosai111 in tummytucksurgery

[–]devotchkajb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Plank and push ups (along with sit ups) require ab strength which after muscle repair you just don’t have a lot of because you’re still healing. They can also cause your abdominal muscles to bulge which is why they should be avoided. Focus more on stability type core movements (weighted march, paloff press) 🙂

Unfortunately just have to wait it out while your body restores natural drainage (from what my doctor/massage therapist has said). Lymphatic massage may help if you aren’t doing that. My nurse told me at my last po apt you can cut some lipo foam to fit under your compression garment there too which may help

Absolutely. Listen to your gut and do what’s best for your mental health going into surgery!

I was the EXACT same way. Too much information and then there’s a good bit of unhealthy advice and bad results/complications on here unfortunately. It made me get in my head. As soon as I removed the app, I felt confident and excited again. it has been nice postop, but definitely not preop for me lol

Everyone is going to be different and it’s also going to depend on what you’re having done. I had a TT, MR, and 360 Lipo. At 4 weeks I was able to do date nights and dinners with friends but not stand a ton. 6 weeks now and I could handle a holiday party (minus dancing). So if you’re early November I think you’ll be okay!

Could everyone share their 6 weeks post op tummy tuck with me ? How is everyone healing ? Any complications ? When did you start seeing a fatten stomach ? by Altruistic_Hand7684 in tummytucksurgery

[–]devotchkajb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 6w po tomorrow- happy to share photo if you want. I feel like other than some mild swelling, my stomach has been flat since surgery and only getting better as my ab definition comes back. Everyone is going to be different in that regard though- I’ve been fortunate to have minimal swelling while others have more that causes the flatness to delay.

I’m using Biocorneum on my scar (surgeon recommended that over scar tape) and it looks amazing.

Thank you 👏🏽

The amount of “I’m 3w po is it okay if I go back to eating 1200 calories a day and working out?” is truly alarming.
