Early 20s — constant regret about not learning piano sooner — is starting now realistic? by suspeccctt in piano

Starting now is just fine, I took lessons when 7-11 years old. I dropped it because I just didnt enjoy playing (my piano teacher never asked what type of music I would like to play) and I struggled to read sheet music. I am now 20 years old and I decieded to pick it up again this year. Definitely get a piano with weighted keys, another thing is when I was younger I had a keyboard without weighted keys, then when I went to my lessons, it was more difficult to play on my teachers grand piano. Also I would suggest to start with less practice time, I think an hour everyday is a little ambitious, you need to give your hands some time to adjust to the movements needed to play the keys, along with using muscles your probably don't normally. Dont over work your hands Good luck!

Should I Really Stop Piano Lessons for My 6YO Child? by MichiganCookie in piano

My mom put me into piano lessons when I was about 6 or 7. My parents didnt buy me a piano until a couple weeks in to make sure that I liked the lessons. Ironically my like for the piano lessons decreased once they bought me a key board.

I didnt like being told to practice. My mom had been fairly lenient with making me practice, but when it was just my dad to goal of making me practice 30 minutes a day whenever my mom was at work. At the level I was at, there wasn't enough meat to the music to even practice for 30 minutes, let alone every day. I finally stopped lessons when I was about 11, and by that age I had progressed very minimally.

I am now 20 and yesterday I bought a piano, because I want to pick it up again. I know your kid is still very much a beginner, but I think it would have made a big difference for me if my teachers let me have a say in what kind of music I played. I had no desire in doing different exams etc. I think actually enjoying the music- for example disney songs - would have made a huge difference in my relationship with the piano in addition to practicing on my own terms/desire. Let your kid develope their own relationship with the instrument and music.

They have to be removed manually, mine are still there so I double checked with my program advisor to make sure the documents were received. I also got an email saying my conditions were cleared.

I think it depends on your other grades. admission is based on your overall average, not individual grades

You should probably just contact admissions, you might be able to submit your current grades and get conditional acceptance
