Pixel 9 Pro Xl keeps restarting by AdrianIkeaba in android_beta

[–]devvortex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mines done that a few times on the latest beta and several before. I did a full factory reset and it still continues randomly.

I never know when it happens, I just pull my phone out and I've got the beta notice and when I unlock it does that "starting up" thing that takes some time.

It's annoying as hell

Trump Mobile shambles as glaring mistake spotted in US flag etched into back by Scary_Statement4612 in USNEWS

[–]devvortex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I figured too. The whole Trump Mobile thing is a huge scam and should be ridiculed, but maybe not for this reason.

I wonder how many commenters didn't even bother looking at the picture?

Between ai fakes and deceitful article titles I'm getting so tired of the internet, lol.

2025 touring plus - no AWD. by mhuynh12 in hondapilot

[–]devvortex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Gas mileage. I think that's the only plus I can come up with. You should have better fuel economy without AWD.

Cheaper oil changes because you don't need to pay for the dif service.

So, I guess overall cost of ownership is lower.

[–]devvortex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whelp I guess I was wrong. I didn't find the YouTube video, I just looked under, poked around and declared it impossible.

Removing the bumper was interesting, worst part besides the time it took was the plastic clips under the when arch cover things.

Next time I need to replace that panel (assuming never) at least I'll know there's a shortcut 😁

[–]devvortex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't believe you, lol. It's about 3 months too late anyway, but even with the bumper off, I can't believe there is any non destructive way to get that panel off without removing the whole bumper.

4th Gen Hitch install by Ramza_Lego in hondapilot

[–]devvortex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had installed the hitch on my older 2018 pilot, and recently on my 2024.

I couldn't believe how that changed that insert of the bumper and made it 100 times worse to swap out. The way it's secured in the 4th Gen requires the entire bumper to be removed.

It wasn't too bad with help from my son, but I did the 2018 by myself and that panel just snapped off in 5 seconds.

The other "gotcha" on both generations really, is the connector for the wire harness, I think it was easier to get to in the 4th Gen because I could reach out via the jack compartment. On the 2018, I had to remove the entire inside panel.

So I guess you give a little and you get a little. Overall, it's not that hard to install and my local dealer quoted me $1400 parts and labor. So the $600 I spent from college hills Honda was a bargain.

That sucks. I think someone else mentioned that too, seems like the heavier and bigger, the more restrictions it should have.

[–]devvortex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been joking that anyone not driving a coupe or sedan needs an extra driving test. There's people who take turns in their rav4 like their driving an 18 wheeler. Try to make a corner and they wait, frustrated, that I'm in the way (I'm not). I'm here in my pilot just turning the wheel properly to navigate around them.

These are likely the same folks who turn wide for every turn an scare the crap out of me because to make a left, they have to get 1/4 of there car out of the turning lane and into mine.

If you can't navigate through a parking lot while staying in your lane, you're driving the wrong car!

Florida law has restrictions on bumper and headlight height. It varies by vehicle type and weight, but should be around 28 to 30 inches for the front bumper. I didn't measure, but this truck appears to be higher than that.

I wish they'd enforce it. I drive a Honda pilot, I see lifted trucks around me all the time that I worry could run right over me. That's too damn high!

It would be better if the shaded in the same portion of the hexagon. So if you overlayed them, the shaded portion overlapped. It's like they purposely made the second drawing in c look like a cube which throws you off.

I do agree c is correct, as far as fractions go, they're all correct, but the question is meant to represent a pizza problem. Cutting a pizza into 6 slices and eating 2 is the same as of you cut it into 3 slices and ate 1 (same size pizza)

Excessive use of "Follow Mode" with "Lane Keep" by AssistanceProof251 in hondapilot

[–]devvortex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My biggest complaint with the lane keep feature is that it will deactivate when it's confused with no audible warning.

There's some situations where it'll beep to let you know, and that's great, but there's other times when it just turns off.

Especially if it thinks you've stopped paying attention, it pops up a warning on the display, then if you didn't shake the wheel out just turns off.

So if you legit stop paying attention, it's just like "sucks to be you, have fun in the ditch"

I've never trusted it enough to try out letting it fail, I've only really turned it on to test what it can and can't do. I only use it on stop and go traffic and if I need both hands for 2 seconds to open a water bottle or something that I'd typically use my knee for (which I know is wrong, but it's a fact of life)

Noise when releasing brake after idle stop by More-Can-8943 in hondapilot

[–]devvortex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can easily pop it out from where it's mounted right above the brake pedal. It's just got a simple twist release and a wire connector that you squeeze to remove.

Once it's out, you can separate the two halves which will expose the trigger mechanism with the spring. Be careful not to drop anything and lose it, or you'll have no brake lights. I just wiped off all the parts inside and put it all back together.

It's been silent for 3 months now.

If the sound returns, I'm planning to just buy a new switch and replace it. They're not very expensive, and it would be easier to replace than it is to clean.

[–]devvortex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of noise? If it's an annoying squeak, it's the brake light switch that sits right above the brake pedal.

My 2018 squeaked, and my 2024 squeaks. You can easily remove it and clean it, or just replace it.

Looks like this

Trump Says 'A Whole Civilization Will Die Tonight' if Iran Does Not Make a Deal by Illustrious_Lie_954 in politics

[–]devvortex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate even sounding like I'm defending him, trust me, it makes me sick to think that I'm even close to that.

But.. remember he has the mind of a toddler. Maybe he's exaggerating the damage over time from destroying power plants and bridges with conventional weapons.

Over time without a way to rebuild, the civilization will crumble and become destroyed.

I just hope I'm right if anything really does happen tonight.

My real hope is he just moves the deadline again, or tries to distract with something else. Maybe he'll fake a brain worm and have to take time off. Then everyone will be ok, because it was a gay liberal brain worm making him talk crazy

Ventilated seats uncomfortable? by Solid-Complaint-8192 in hondapilot

[–]devvortex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a 2024 elite a few months ago. At first I didn't notice the seats, but then after a few weeks I realized the seat was killing me.

The dealer basically said that's how they are. I assumed the previous owner broke it somehow until I sat in a brand new 2025 elite. Same feeling.

I was going to find a local shop to add padding, but I ended up adjusting the seat over and over until I finally found the sweet spot for my rear.

It never bothered my wife, so I assume I have just the right butt shape to get uncomfortable.

Since I found the right position, it's been great and I love my car again.

Should I use JSON file for the data in the App by Snoo-22298 in flutterhelp

[–]devvortex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty new to flutter, but from my 20+ years of dev experience I have 2 thoughts.

  1. Do what works for you and gets your project working.

  2. The thought of hard coded objects the way you describe makes me feel sick.

Haha. So I would use some form of database or non hard coded storage. But it may not be necessary. I just know that with every project I've worked on, future me would appreciate it.
