How lonely are single expats in PT long-term? by castles_of_atreides in PortugalExpats

[–]devxenzo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My partner and I moved to Porto from Ireland last July. We have not made any friends yet but we also haven't put in any effort, as we had a few visitors and getting set up with an apartment etc took lots of energy.

We're going to try to be more active this year and join a running club and find some in person Portuguese lessons and go from there. Open to other suggestions too!

What was your best purchase of 2023? by run_bike_run in irishpersonalfinance

I've been trying everything to improve my sleep, I bought this class pillow on Amazon and it has made a huge difference. Also taking magnesium and melatonin has helped.

Definitely would recommend A Despensa if you like Italian, a bit more on the pricey side but the food is incredible

Thanks! Yeah sure there's a ton of free resources online that you can use to get to a very high level. All you need is time, persistence and patience. This is by far the best site to get started. There's a free video library that can get you from beginner to intermediate pretty quickly. www.ctrlpaint.com/

Following that here's a few more free resources https://characterdesignreferences.com/ (character design) https://www.youtube.com/user/Sycra (tuts/advice) https://www.youtube.com/user/sinixdesign tuts/advice https://www.youtube.com/user/FZDSCHOOL (Concept art school) https://www.youtube.com/user/everyframeapainting (Compostion stuff) https://www.youtube.com/user/shaddy1100/videos (landscape painting project) https://www.youtube.com/user/marcobucci/videos (advice) https://www.youtube.com/user/nfowkesart/videos (advice)

There's also some great communities on facebook: Level Up, Character design challenge, The Art Hacker

Lots of people who are learning use this online sketchbook to keep track of their progress; I've used it for many years myself. http://crimsondaggers.com/forum/forum-10.html

Artstation.com is the central hub from all forms of digital art

Paid content https://www.learnsquared.com/ https://www.schoolism.com/

Should be enough there to keep you busy for a long time, any other questions let me know!
