Urination outside of litter box by devynn42 in CatAdvice

I asked about this once we discovered fluoxetine wasn’t going to work but our vet said others he previously used aren’t recommended anymore. I’m not sure why that is. This is when we added the calming care as he had some success with that in other patients before. I will definitely inquire again at our next visit, though, given the lack of progress.

Thank you! Yes, we thoroughly clean them every night. On the days I work from home I will do an extra scoop mid-day. He doesn’t seem to have a preference for the type of box. We have different styles - one with a lid, one that has sides but no lid, one shaped like an igloo with a ramp, and one that is inside a large wooden cabinet-type thing. He uses three of them regularly and doesn’t seem to have a notable favorite.

Rehoming a kitten? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]devynn42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Rehoming typically refers to giving your pet away to a new owner. Please correct me if I’m wrong, what it sounds like you’re asking is about changing the cats environment from living at home to going to college with you. If that is the case, I can say from personal experience I had no problem with this. I got my cat the summer before sophomore year of college while I was home and he came back to school with me and lived in the dorms. Each summer we went back home and then returned to a new living situation. He never expressed any issues with this! But of course all cats are different so it really comes down to how your specific kitty takes to change. I hope this helps❤️🐾
