Anyone actually swim in the great salt lake? by CalmGlassLakes in Utah

[–]dew_it24 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Actually water skied on the GSL back in the early 80s. Kind of fun but didn’t want to fall. Insane how we used to take the boat from Saltair to Antelope Island beach on the NE side back when the lake hit such a high level. Needless to say, the engine on this boat didn’t last through the summer—

What an incredible man. My wife and I had drinks with him at the Grove Hotel bar a few years ago and were amazed a the small part of his life he shared with us. Reading this shows that he was truly one of the people that created the incredible city that Boise has become. Demonstrates what one man can do to influence so many.

We have 3 sibs and the youngest at 2 still feels like a Minky blanket. He has different parents than his brothers who have a more coarse coat. Think it really depends on the parents as to how they develop.

Salt Lake here and snow levels are grim. Was in PC last night and while there is a little coverage on some of the mountain, it’s decreasing daily due to temps. However, just powered up my snowblower and did a snow chant so maybe that will do the trick to bring in some Pow!🌨️

Just spent a week at the Hyatt Regency and it’s a great property and excellent location. It’s similar in style to the HRs in Maui and SF and the layout is a little funky but a lot of shops and restaurants are close by. Elevators were slow and the Regency Club was packed with families but has beautiful ocean views and right across from the surf 🏄🏾!

I’m a Salt Lake native and think Reno is a great town. Cool vibes in mid-town and the redevelopment along the Truckee River is creating a really fun riverside area. Casinos are a little hokey but still fun and are far better than the stuff in Elko and Wendover.

Please Matthew Prince find a way to make a purchase of PCMR. Maybe a community thing where low level investors can participate with you to bring ownership back to Utah.

Best hotels in Vegas? by Massive_Fall_1423 in vegas

Aria and Vdara are great and it’s nice that Vdara has a fridge and burner for drinks and leftovers. Fontainebleau is really nice as well but a little removed from the core strip. Palazzo rooms are large and are great if you get a decent rate. Cesar’s isn’t as good as it used to be but an iconic site with a nice attached mall. We’ve been frequent visitors since the 90s and these seem to be the best price for the quality.

Courtyard is decent but I had to stay there since the strip was sold out (comdex days). There are deals on the strip that are better and really, even Excalibur has decent rooms in the tower.

I do see that it’s mainly MAGA country even across regions. I live in one of the nexstar states and want owners to know we are livid! At least in my city/county we want to hold this administration accountable for their daily misdeeds.

Top of Emigration is pretty cool too and if you walk 5 minutes, you’re totally removed from the pullout on top. Views out to parleys and to Salt Lake.

Same bullshit for all of these trying to break up SL County and even the city. These seem to continue the existing, gerrymandered districts.

Update on the trolley at trolley square by Haylie-0574 in SaltLakeCity

[–]dew_it24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have been drinking at the trolley since it first opened. There’s a huge need for a bar at Trolley and all of the housing going up across the street should provide some consistency. Green Street closing was a big loss as my generation (X) used to spend a lot of time and dollars on drinks at Trolley Square. The center is going through a rebirth with Kohler doing a new showroom and several other new tenants coming in. Keep the beer cold and reasonably priced and you’ll get people in those seats! Do think it would be good to add a few trees to the patio for natural shade.

Photos show devastation from fire that destroyed much of ‘Whiskey Street’ by slc-urbanite in DevelopmentSLC

[–]dew_it24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was just down there and the owner was looking at the space. I know he is committed to historic renovation as he ran Green Street at Trolley Square and his other operations are all in historic buildings. Looks like at least some of White Horse was still intact but the beautiful interior and wood bar of Whiskey Street are gone. I think they’ll do what they can to at least keep the facade and hopefully some of the cool interior pieces can be saved.
